India Government Prohibits 178 Companies From Participating In Cotton Export
On Wednesday, the India government banned 178 companies from participating in the future cotton export allocation because they did not meet the requirements.

Earlier this year, the government approved 928 enterprises to export 1 million 900 thousand bales of cotton (170 kg per pack), but according to the circular issued by the General Administration of foreign trade, the number of exports of 178 exporters exceeded or was lower than that they allowed to export.

India is the second largest cotton producing and exporting country in the world, and the Cotton Advisory Committee estimates that India will harvest 31 million 200 thousand bales of cotton and create a new high output in 2010/11.
