Six Development Trends Of China'S Exhibition Industry
The status quo of China's exhibition industry
According to the survey data, the current situation of China's exhibition industry has five characteristics: the exhibition project continues to grow.
Quantitative expansion
Obviously, the exhibition hall construction is in the ascendant, becoming the necessary facilities of the city; the exhibition is hosted by diversified development, with strong government leading colors; the exhibition area has a high degree of concentration, leading in economically developed areas; the direct revenue growth of exhibition is slow, and the social and economic benefits are driven.
(1) the exhibition project continues to grow, and the quantity expansion is obvious
The exhibition industry in China can be described as "late start and fast development", which can be verified by the growth of the number of exhibition items in the past five years reflected in Figure 1.
The number of exhibition items in 1997 exceeded 1000 for the first time, 2000 in 20001, and 3000 in 2002, and 3800 in 2005.
As far as the international comparison of exhibition items is concerned, China ranks first in Asia and second in the world, with fewer projects than the United States, and has become a "great exhibition power".
However, most of the exhibition projects in China are small and medium sized projects, and large scale projects and brand projects are few.
Although the total exhibition area of these exhibitions is also a huge figure, China is not yet a strong exhibition country in terms of exhibition revenue.
(two) the construction of the pavilion is in the ascendant.
City
Necessary facilities
In recent years, with the development of the city exhibition economy, the momentum of the exhibition hall in various cities has gone up and down.
In the past few years, most of the exhibition pavilions have been focused on the development of exhibition economy. Now many cities are not fully developing the exhibition economy, but from the perspective of commonweal of various exhibition activities held in cities. The exhibition venues, as the necessary infrastructure of the city, have been planning and constructing exhibition venues. For example, Lhasa, Tibet, is also actively striving for the construction of a convention and Exhibition Center.
At present, the number of exhibition venues in China can be ranked third in the world, only a little less than that in the United States and Britain.
The total area of exhibition venues is also among the highest in the world, but the rental rate is much lower than that in developed countries.
(three) the exhibition is hosted by diversified development, with strong government leading colors.
In China, exhibitions have been an important means and carrier to promote the development of trade, investment, technology and cultural exchanges for many years.
In addition, China's economic system is characterized by strong government led characteristics. Therefore, China's exhibition activities are dominated by government or semi official organizations. This is also a distinctive feature different from other major exhibitions in the world.
As far as the exhibition organizers are concerned, although there are many participants and diversified characteristics, there are generally five main exhibiting subjects, namely, the government (including the government and departments, the provisional institutions of the government, the semi official trade promotion agency such as the Trade Promotion Council), business associations, state owned enterprises, private enterprises and foreign-funded enterprises.
From a legal point of view, in our country, the organizer is the main body of the exhibition and the main civil liability unit, but most of our exhibition activities have other contractors.
From the perspective of contractors, the proportion of enterprises undertaking is increasing.
The number of government led exhibition projects in China is the number one in the world.
Many large events, especially those sponsored by government agencies at the central level or above, or the National Association of sex merchants, often consist of several different agencies. The undertakers are often subordinate government agencies of the sponsors.
At present, China does not specifically specify any "threshold" for exhibition organizers. In recent years, thousands of new exhibition related enterprises have been registered, although most of them have the qualification to host exhibitions. However, at present, private enterprises that are truly independent or jointly sponsored by their organizations are still few and far between.
(four) the exhibition area has a high degree of centralization and a leading position in economically developed areas.
At present, apart from Tibet, all provinces and cities have their own pavilions, more or less have exhibitions held locally, and more and more provinces have proposed to develop the exhibition industry vigorously.
However, China's exhibition industry is actually concentrated in a few provinces and cities, and its concentration is quite high.
As far as the city is concerned, the three most recognized exhibition cities are Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The three can enter the top 100 cities in the world exhibition center. In the provinces, Guangdong, Beijing, Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu rank the top five.
This also shows that the exhibition industry in China is mainly concentrated in manufacturing and economically developed provinces.
(five) slow growth in exhibition direct revenue and social and economic benefits driving
Compared with the number of exhibition items, China's exhibition direct revenue is much less than that of many other countries, and the total economic volume of exhibition is inferior to that of the United States, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Australia and other countries.
The proportion of exhibition revenue in GDP is generally between 0.1-0.2% in developed countries, while the proportion in China is still less than 0.08%.
This shows that the degree of industrialization and marketization of our exhibition is still very low. As far as exhibition revenue is concerned, China is not yet a big exhibition country.
From the perspective of social and economic benefits of the exhibition industry, China's exhibition industry has played a more prominent role than the United States and Germany.
Taking 2003 as an example, there were as many as 44 exhibitors in China in that year, and the proportion of overseas exhibitors was about 10%, the attendance rate of the participants reached 60 million, and the overseas audience was about 3 million.
Although the proportion of the professional audience is still low, the direct effect of the exhibition is worse than that of the developed countries. However, the exhibition has become a very important carrier for Chinese enterprises to promote products, meet customers and reach order pactions.
In addition, the number of exhibitors and the total number of the audience is second in the world, and the exhibitors are extensive. In addition, the Chinese government led exhibitions are often accompanied by the strong publicity of the mainstream media in mainland China. The exhibition has obvious publicity and education role in enlightening the public and increasing knowledge, thereby playing a very good social benefit.
