Australian Designers Compete Fiercely (Chart)

Australian fashion experts warn that if local designers want to keep their careers in Australia fashion week next year, they need to be promoted in the competition.

Kirstie Clements, editor of fashion magazine, said Australia's fashion industry is under threat. Many designers in the middle market will not survive this year.

Clements said, "this competition will fundamentally change: as long as we see what has happened, the store of Zara, a Spanish clothing retailer, has queued up at the gate two weeks ago when there was always a queue for those clothes around the block."

"Zara has stepped up in popularity and price. Many Australian designers in the middle zone will have to improve themselves if they want to compete or walk out."
