Ma Lan: Hello, everyone, I am Ma Lan.

Creating a studio is just a dream pursuit.

Host: we know that Ma Lan jewelry senior studio is a new and mysterious concept.

Can you introduce this studio to our friends?

Ma Lan: actually, at the earliest time, I didn't think about it too much. Because I was younger, I just wanted to do what I wanted to do. I began to recruit and build a team.

At first, it was still very hard. My team and I also experienced a lot of ups and downs. Now, we have gradually tested our skills, and gradually have a clearer sense of direction.

Host: which year was it founded?

We all know that when you were studying in England, when did you make up your mind to make this studio?

Ma Lan: when I was reading, I always had a dream, especially if I had my own studio to do what I really wanted to do.

Generally speaking, I am very kind of thinking and small personality.

After returning to China, I was also at a loss for a while. I managed some affairs in my family business, including the purchase of precious stones. After such a few years of silence, by 2008, there seemed to be a small beast running outside. I felt that I had to start my own business. In the second half of 2008, I talked with many friends about my ideas. They supported me very much. At the end of 2008, I set up my own team and began to make Ma Lan jewelry senior custom studio.

Host: so far, how many series have been launched so far?

In just 3 years, did you go to plan?

Ma Lan: actually, I have not calculated them in detail.

But the real series is only two sets a year, because there are more and more guests in their own circle.

Moderator: independent jewelry design concept, I believe that many people in China feel unfamiliar concept, how do you view this concept?

And what do you think is the status quo of this independent jewelry design in China?

Ma Lan: I believe that independent designers, if they want to do well in foreign countries or in China, need more courage, boldness and persistence, because this road is still very narrow in China.

I would be very honored if Ma Lan jewelry had hoped to do something together with fashion brands.

But I will have my own insistence and I will never give up the original intention of the Ma Lan jewelry advanced customization studio.

This year, we are also interested in playing some crossover designs with some artists, trying to make some sparks about what we all feel. This is something our PR team has been trying to help me talk about.

The pursuit of feminine and vibrant design

Host: what kind of jewelry do you design?

Ma Lan: I feel that I am a typical Gemini, that is, there are two people in my heart. This person can be very quiet, can be very crazy, can be a man, can be a woman.

Of course, I feel very boyish in handling and managing, but there are many gentle aspects that I can't see.

My design is mainly from the perspective of women. I am good at using colors and lines.

I think the sense of intelligence is very important to me. No matter what kind of design, gem or jade, I must make it feel alive and smart.

Childhood memories behind cicada pendants

Moderator: will there be some natural or natural creatures as the object of design inspiration?

Ma Lan: of course it is.

For example, I think what the guests appreciate is Fenghuang jadeite, which is the main stone. I will choose jadeite jade, auxiliary stone, I will choose Pink Sapphire, and diamond, red diamond and color drill material to select and process.

Of course, leaves, insects, these are the designs that will make me proud of myself.

Moderator: like today's body with this?

Ma Lan: This is a cicada.

Host: can you introduce this design?

Ma Lan: its main stone is a jade with high ice. Its wings were very difficult to manufacture at that time, because it involves matching diamond with gradual change to make its wings.

We have all seen cicadas, the wings of cicadas are pparent at the end, but the darker the color is, the more dark they are at the base of their wings.

I want to restore the most real effect, and then mix the creation of art.

I bought a packet of brown diamond ornaments, and then I used white diamonds to gradually change to the top of my wing tip, but this one had to rely on my eyes to match them one by one. It takes a lot of time to match the gradient effect with the naked eye, so the process of stone blending has taken several months.

Moderator: when designing the cicada pendant, does it take a long time to read the cicada?

Ma Lan: the design of cicada contains more or less plots of childhood.

When I was a kid, I went to Beijing to catch a cicada after school. I caught cicada at home.

Cicada also called cicada, the sound of cicada sounds very loud, but as if it can hypnotic sound, it will sleep very fragrant.

So sometimes when working pressure is too high, I think back to the bed where I was lying when I was a child, listening to the voice of a cicada outside, and blowing some small wind, and naturally I would sleep very comfortably.

My grandparents and I had a very deep feeling. When they were young, they came to pick me up after school, and then they took me out to catch grasshoppers, catch cicada, and do things that children like in the north.

Cicada has a special little complex in my heart.

Cicada also has a moral meaning, in the traditional jade jewelry world, it implies a blockbuster.

So this design work makes me have no way to give up, and finally hangs on my own body.

Moderator: just now I heard you say that you are Gemini. You have a childhood image and a cultural intention.

But you still have a madness in your mind. Do you have any crazy experiences in your jewelry design or are you driven to collapse by the design requirements of your guests?

Ma Lan: Crazy design is bound to happen, but it gets along very well with the guests.

Because what the guests ask for is relatively normal. If I add some new little ideas, they will feel very fresh.

There are many times to communicate with the guests before the design. Of course, some of the guests have been relieved at the end of the day. It doesn't matter if they don't look at the picture. Ma Lan, do it for me.

Of course, I will have a crazy design, for example, a few years ago there is a jade leaf, of course, that raw material is not very good, my mother said, you take it to help me design it, to see what idea, these are the auxiliary stones I can give you, some colored gemstones.

She may think that I will use a little bit of colored gemstones to embellish, and mainly use the most traditional design method to make flower heads, and the surrounding diamond inlays.

As a result, I crazily put all the colored stones on a piece of stuff, but the effect was very shocking.

Host: who are your target customers?

Ma Lan: really, I didn't think about it very carefully. Of course, the more people love my work, the happier I will be, and I will be very honored.

But I still like to do things silently, and the wine is not afraid of the alley.

I believe that my guests are also more interested in people with their own private space.

From designer to manager

Moderator: as the founder of the studio, is your work focused on design, or will external affairs occupy more?

How is time allocated now?

Ma Lan: at the very beginning, I put all my energy into the creation and design of my work. From the beginning of this year, there will be more friends to help me.

Of course, they are also very creative design teams. I am mainly responsible for some decision-making and directional things. The work on the specific rules may be handled more by them. I will gradually become a team leader to deal with my work role.

Host: will there be any way to promote or publicize this year, so that more friends will know this brand?

Ma Lan: of course, I will not talk much about it for the time being, because I give my full authority to Mr. Opry, a trusted public relations team.

I believe that more mainland friends will soon see relevant information, including physical objects.

Moderator: ask a designer may often be asked questions, if the guests asked you to do that work is basically contrary to your original idea, when business and art conflict, how do you balance the two?

Ma Lan: first, I am an independent jewelry designer. After choosing my guest, he has already set the direction. It is a kind of mutual attraction and mutual appreciation. If you appreciate me, you will come to me.

If there is a great conflict between our thoughts or tastes, I believe that such a guest will not find me. He may not understand or appreciate what I do.

Well, first of all, the guests I came to contact with me, why do we have a very pleasant relationship, that is, they appreciate me.

Of course, I have met with a difficult guest for me, but I think it is also a challenge and fun for me.

Of course, this process is very painful to me, but when he breaks through himself and gives his works to him, the happy smile on his face will make me feel that you are very successful.

Host: how long do you spend the longest time in the works you have designed?

Ma Lan: a year and a half.

Ma Lan: including creativity.

Collecting materials may be difficult to tell, because sometimes, for example, a piece of design incorporates material from different materials, such as jade, pearls, diamonds, and even some colored gemstones. It will be quite difficult to match and coordinate these purchases.

For example, at the end of last year, I had a guest who wanted to propose to his current wife (then girlfriend). He bought a 5 carat heart-shaped diamond through my procurement channel, but his design requirements must be unique, but also dignified, elegant and classic.

This is to get to the bottom of my life, not to give me a particularly large space for creative development, but it requires it to be very special. At that time, I was looking for stones all over the world. Finally, two diamond shield diamonds were placed on both sides of the main drill, and the effect came out. When he was wearing his wife's hand, she burst into tears excitedly.

Host: what do you think is the style of Ma Lan's design? What is Ma Lan's design?

Ma Lan: I think my work, as long as there is contact, experience, I will think that my name is inscribed on it.

I have a very loyal visitor. She has been with me for over two years.

Moderator: Miss Ma, how do you view fashion? What do you think is a classic and lasting fashion style?

Ma Lan: for example, I think you are very fashionable when I look at you.

Because I think you are very smart, you know what is right for you, what is most comfortable to wear, and confident when you wear it, that's fashion.

Moderator: tell me about your circle of friends. What kind of people would you compare with?

Ma Lan: I think I should be a friend.

I think different circles of friends are like my viscera, different functions of different circles, but one can not be less.

Host: will we still discuss jewelry or design these concepts when we are together?

Ma Lan: No.

For example, a song should have a cadence, and then it needs to have a presentation, a climax, and an ending. You will find the song nice and comfortable.
