    The smooth operation of the project has laid a solid foundation for promoting the steady, rapid and healthy development of China's carbon fiber industry and promoting the development of new and high technology industries in the northeast old industrial base.

    He pointed out that the annual output of 5000 tons of carbon fiber precursor project of Jilin chemical fiber group is an important measure for Jilin chemical fiber group to adjust its industrial structure and make it bigger and stronger.

    The completion and commissioning of the project marks the new stage of development of Jilin chemical fiber group and will play an important role in promoting the scale and industrialization of China's carbon fiber.

    Carbon fiber industry

    The healthy and sustainable development of the carbon fiber industry has formed the overall advantages of the carbon fiber industry and enhanced the level of industrial intensive development. In December 2008, Jilin chemical fiber group invested 550 million yuan, and founded Jilin carbon Valley Carbon Fiber Co., Ltd., introducing advanced equipment from abroad, and began to set up the project of "5000 tons of PAN based carbon fiber precursor" per year.

    The project has built four production lines, one of which is a carbon fiber precursor production line with an annual production capacity of 500 tons T300 grade 1K and 3K, and the other 3 are 1500 tons of low cost T300 grade carbon fiber precursor production line.

    In April 2009, the project was listed by the municipal government as the major technology project of Jilin scale industrial enterprise technological innovation development plan (2009~2012).

    Under the strong support and attention of governments and leaders at all levels, after two years of preparation, installation and construction, in September 2011, the Jilin chemical fiber group's annual production of 5000 tons of PAN based carbon fiber precursor production line was successfully tested. With the full production of the production line, it is estimated that annual sales revenue will reach 400 million yuan, with a profit of nearly 180 million yuan.


    Zhang Hua, director of the hemp research center of the Quartermaster Equipment Research Institute of the General Logistics Department, told reporters that with the rapid development of China's aerospace, military, defense and other high-tech fields, as well as pportation, health, sports, engineering and other civilian areas, carbon fiber as a leading material has shown enormous room for development, especially as one of the indispensable materials in the field of military industry, aviation, aerospace, missiles and warships.

    The commissioning of the carbon fiber precursor project of Jilin chemical fiber group will effectively alleviate the huge demand in the domestic carbon fiber market, especially in the field of military industry, and reverse the situation of the supply of carbon fiber products being controlled by others.


    According to the press, our country started developing carbon fiber and raw silk in the late 1960s, but due to various reasons, the development of carbon fiber in China is still at a pilot level of low performance and unstable production. The quality of carbon fiber is far from meeting the needs of national defense and national economic construction and development.

    At the same time, the most competitive companies in the world's carbon fiber industry, such as Dongli, Toho, rayon and MITSUBISHI rayon, monopolized and blocked the production technology of raw silk, and made most of the carbon fiber used in China rely on imports.

    Therefore, in 2008, the leaders of the party and the state made important instructions on the research and development of carbon fiber, and demanded the development of carbon fiber products as soon as possible.

    We must develop technologies and products with independent intellectual property rights, accelerate the development of carbon fiber industry, fundamentally change the situation of long-term dependence on human beings in the field of carbon fiber, and enhance our international status and international competitiveness.


    In January 2010, the Ministry of science and technology of China identified Jilin, Jilin, as the national base for the industrialization of high and new carbon fiber. This is the only carbon fiber industrialization base in China recognized by the Ministry of science and technology. It marks the development of Jilin's carbon fiber industry has risen to a high degree of national development strategy and has become a key base for China's development of carbon fiber industry.

    And Jilin chemical fiber is the primary role of the production and supply of the parent fiber (polyacrylonitrile based carbon fiber precursor), which is necessary for the production of carbon fiber at the base, and has become the leading enterprise in the industrial chain of the base.

    At the beginning of the 11th Five-Year, Jilin chemical fiber group has recognized the extensive market application and good market prospect of carbon fiber, and has actively researched and developed the production technology of carbon fiber precursor.

    The group summarized more than ten years of wet process two step acrylic fiber production experience, and drew out more than 20 experts and technicians with rich experience and developed carbon fiber technology. In January 2007, it co operated with Changchun University of Technology to carry out independent research and development. Through the integration of laboratory results and acrylic fiber production experience, the industrial production technology of "T300 grade polyacrylonitrile based carbon fiber precursor" was integrated and innovating.

    The technology uses three phase aqueous suspension polymerization to produce carbon fiber precursor polymer, and the wet two step process for producing carbon fiber precursor is characterized by short process flow, stable quality and high yield.

    At present, other carbon fiber precursor manufacturers in China use "one-step method" to prepare carbon fiber precursors. Only Jilin chemical fiber group uses wet process "two steps" to produce carbon fiber precursors.

    The technology has its own intellectual property rights and is the first creation in China. Now it has obtained two national invention patents, namely, the preparation method of polyacrylonitrile based carbon fiber precursor polymer and the preparation method of a polyacrylonitrile based carbon fiber precursor.


    In February 2008, the annual production line of 100 tons of carbon fiber precursor production was formally put into operation, and it was raised to 150 tons / year in August.

    Tested by the Institute of carbon fiber and composite materials, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, the strength of the precursor reaches 3.65GPa, the modulus reaches 238GPa, the elongation at break is 1.5%, and the density is l.76g/cm.

    After carbonization, its performance index exceeds the T300J level in Dongli, Japan. The individual products reach the T700 level in Dongli, Japan, and are at the leading level in China.

    In March of the same year, the technology passed the appraisal of Jilin provincial science and Technology Department, and it was reported to Jilin science and Technology Department's "science and technology achievements pformation project" and "National Torch Plan industrialization project" in May. It passed the first trial of experts. In November, Jilin science and Technology Bureau was identified as "Jilin science and technology achievement".

    The successful development of the technology not only enhanced the R & D and technology level of China's carbon fiber materials, but also solved the "bottleneck" that restricts the localization of high-performance carbon fiber materials in China. At the same time, it also broke the technical blockade of China's imports of high-quality carbon fibers by developed countries such as Japan and the United States, alleviated the contradiction between supply and demand in the domestic market, and accelerated the development process of China's carbon fiber products application and related industries.


    Academician Zhou Guotai highly appraised the carbon fiber precursor of Jilin chemical fiber production, and considered that the product is the only carbon fiber precursor made by the national aerospace industry, and its quality is satisfactory.


    It is understood that the goal of carbon fiber products of Jilin chemical fiber group is to stabilize domestic raw silk.

    On the basis of the efforts to expand the international market, the countries that have established cooperation with the Jilin chemical fiber group have Iran, Russia and South Korea. In addition, they will intensify their efforts to seize the carbonized manufacturers of the raw silk purchased from Greece.


    According to the current market demand, with the gradual establishment and expansion of domestic carbonization plants, the market demand for raw silk will further expand. The Jilin chemical fiber group plans to add another 15 thousand tons on the basis of 5000 tons of raw silk scale.

    By the end of 12th Five-Year, the scale of carbon fiber precursor will reach 20 thousand tons per year.
