Up to 1996, the exhibition industry in Xiamen was still in its embryonic stage. The number of exhibitions was low, the scale was low, and the scale was small.

The Convention and Exhibition Centre was once opposed.

"The exhibition industry has always been a poor and rich industry. Without exhibition conditions and without economic conditions, it will not be able to run mice."

Zheng Zhi, who joined the Xiamen Convention and exhibition industry, said.

In 1997, the first trade fair was held in Toyama exhibition city.

"At that time, the Coordination Office of the Xiamen Municipal People's government was set up by the China investment and trade fair. The director is Yu Weiguo, and I am the deputy director."

Zheng Zhi recalled that at that time there were only a dozen people coordinating organizations, and six or seven small units participated in the meeting, but received over 6200 overseas businessmen from 52 countries and regions.

"There was no conference activities at that time, there was no project meeting.

By 1998, the Xiamen municipal government once again played a leading role in preparing for reclamation at the seaside and invested nearly 1 billion 200 million yuan to build the Xiamen International Convention and Exhibition Center. "At that time, there were many objections and felt that Toyama exhibition city was enough and there was no need to build a convention and Exhibition Center."

Zheng Zhi recalled that the opposition was very strong, but the municipal government felt that it was not necessary to build it.

Thus, in September 2000, the first phase of the total construction area of 165 thousand square meters was completed and put into operation. The total area of the exhibition hall was 33 thousand square meters, which was the largest exhibition hall in China, with the highest level of exhibition hall and the largest volume of monomer.

No one could have foreseen that in the past 15 years, the fair has been able to move from here to the world. From the initial 52 countries and regions to 108 this year, it has become the most important and dazzling brand in Xiamen.

HKSAR achieves exhibition industry and MICE industry to promote development of HKSAR

In the past 30 years since the establishment of the Xiamen Special Economic Zone, the exhibition industry has gone from scratch to development.

In this process, the government led exhibition has played a huge role in promoting the government's resources because it is the best and richest.

Since the reform and opening up, the stall is being pursued and blocked up, and the trade freedom after the reform and opening up. Xiamen's Convention and exhibition industry has been expanding along with the economic development, and it is also promoting the development of Xiamen's economy.

Today, Xiamen has formed a complete exhibition industry chain.

According to statistics, the annual exhibition area in Xiamen reaches 1 million 200 thousand square meters, which ranks first in the coastal cities. There are more than 2000 statistics conferences every year; 30-50 design and construction enterprises are based on Xiamen, and occupy market share in the whole province, the whole country and even the international market; the 30%-50% of Xiamen's Hotel turnover comes from convention and exhibition.

The exhibition industry has been included in the "12th Five-Year" development plan of Xiamen. There will be a series of planning, supporting policies and the rapid development of the exhibition team.

After the efforts made in 12th Five-Year, I hope that the exhibition industry in Xiamen will achieve greater success.

The annual exhibition area can be estimated to reach 2 million square meters, and 10 brand exhibitions will be developed, and the conference will be vigorously developed to achieve 3000 annual total number of more than 500 thousand people.
