Customs spokesman said that the customs had noticed the trend of Hongkong being used as a pit station for counterfeit goods, and paid close attention to illegal activities of smuggling counterfeit goods by private smugglers.

The spokesman reminded Chinese and Hong Kong drivers not to seek small profits and participate in smuggling illegal activities.

According to the import and Export Ordinance, anyone who smuggle goods not loaded with warehouse receipts or refitted ships for smuggling is liable to a maximum fine of 2 million yuan and imprisonment for seven years.
