Self Cleaning Cotton Cloth Exposed To Sunlight

Imagine that when you are exposed to ordinary sunshine, jeans, sweat or socks on the clothesline or on the balcony railing can be yourself.

Mingce Long and Deyong Wu say their fabrics use a composite titanium dioxide coating, which is used for everything, from white paint to food to sunscreen lotion.

When titanium dioxide contacts certain light, it can decompose dirt and kill microorganisms.

It has been used to self clean windows, kitchen and bathroom tiles, no smell socks and other products.

The authors pointed out that self cleaning cotton fabrics had been produced in the past, but they were able to clean themselves only when exposed to ultraviolet light.

Therefore, they began to develop a new cotton fabric that can self clean when exposed to ordinary sunlight.

Their report describes cotton fabrics made of compound nanoparticles coated with titanium dioxide and nitrogen.

They say that when exposed to sunlight, the coated fabric material will remove orange stain.

The nanoparticles composed of silver and iodine are further decomposed to accelerate the discoloration process.

After washing and drying, the coating is still intact.
