The 200 thousand ton / year MDI production technology developed by Yantai Wanhua research has become the largest single MDI production technology in the world. It indicates that China's MDI production technology has entered the leading ranks of the world's MDI manufacturing technology, and has become the fourth country to master MDI manufacturing technology after Germany, the United States and Japan.

Yantai Wanhua has thus become the largest and most competitive MDI manufacturer in Asia Pacific.

At present, this technology not only successfully implements industrialization in Wanhua Ningbo Industrial Park, but also has a stable operation, and greatly reduces the energy consumption of the device, which is nearly 10% lower than that of the multinational company. The MDI investment of the same scale is also 30-40% lower than that of the multinational company, and the quality of the product is obviously improved.

In the past five years, the result has reversed the long-term dependence on imports of MDI in China. It has created a sales income of 22 billion yuan for Yantai Wanhua, and at the same time, promoted the downstream industry to form a 150 billion yuan output value. It has effectively promoted the rapid development of household appliances, spandex, shoemaking and artificial leather downstream industries, and supported the rapid development of automobile industry, and also promoted the modernization of national defense in China.

MDI is the main raw material for making polyurethane. It is the fifth largest plastic in the world, and is widely used in various fields of national economy.

It is such a product that has been restrained by foreign producers for many years due to technical reasons.

In the late 70s of last century, in order to support the production line of polyurethane synthetic leather, Yantai Wanhua introduced a set of 10 thousand tons / year MDI production equipment equivalent to international technology level from Japan in 60s.

Due to the lack of core technology, the operation of the plant was very difficult, and it failed to reach production in ten years.

In the late 80s, in order to meet the rapid growth of domestic demand for MDI, Yantai Wanhua aimed at leading the world on the basis of absorption and absorption of imported devices, and adopted advanced development mode and organizational network to start research and development of MDI technology.

In 1999, Yantai Wanhua finally developed an annual production capacity of 20 thousand tons MDI manufacturing technology with independent property rights, and successfully developed 40 thousand tons / year, 80 thousand tons / year, 160 thousand tons / year MDI manufacturing technology and realized industrialization from 2000 to 2003.

Yantai Wanhua's breakthrough in MDI manufacturing technology has made China the fourth country with the technology outside Germany, the United States and Japan, breaking the technology blockade of foreign multinational companies.

Whether in the world or in China, polyurethane has always been a sunrise industry.

Over the past ten years, global MDI demand has increased by more than 9% annually, close to 3 times the global GDP growth rate.

Asia Pacific and other emerging MDI market demand growth is higher than the global average growth rate. China is also the fastest growing market and the largest potential market in the world.

Over the past five years, the demand for China's MDI market has increased by more than 27% per year. It has become the second largest MDI consumer after the United States, and consumption exceeds 500 thousand tons in 2006.

At present, the per capita consumption of polyurethane in China is less than 10% of the per capita consumption in developed countries, and the self-sufficiency rate is only 24%.

In the next few years, China's MDI demand will remain above 18% growth rate.

The rigid polyurethane foam prepared by MDI is the best insulation material. With the promulgation and implementation of the "11th Five-Year plan", MDI will play a more important role in building a resource conserving and environment-friendly society.

At present, only 5% of the new buildings in China adopt thermal insulation measures, of which less than 10% of polyurethane is used.

3I internationalization strategy Ding Jiansheng said: "the high and new technology with market potential is not introduced, and the ability of technological innovation can not be bought. The real core technology can only be obtained through independent innovation."

Yantai Wanhua's annual research and development funds account for over 5% of sales revenue. It is the technological innovation with independent intellectual property rights, which makes Yantai Wanhua gradually possess the inherent advantage of international competition.

If MDI is a global industry, if it is in the corner of the Chinese market, it is just waiting to die.

Foreign multinationals, without exception, allocate resources and expand their market in the world.

The basic raw materials such as oil and natural gas for MDI manufacturing are relatively scarce in China. At the same time, the demand for MDI market in North America and Europe is more than 1 million tons. There is strong demand in emerging markets such as Russia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Central Asia and so on. There is no MDI production plant in China. This provides market space for Yantai Wanhua MDI to become stronger and bigger, and to go global.

Two years ago, Yantai Wanhua products began to export, and many companies and offices were disposed abroad. At present, its products have entered more than 50 countries and regions.
