Slippers Printed On Angkor Wat Require Kampuchea To Stop Selling

According to media reports here, Kampuchea's press secretary Jo Canali said 23 days that the Kingdom of Cambodia government wants Vietnam to stop selling slippers with Angkor Wat designs.

The report quoted Jo Canali as saying that he learned 19 days ago that Vietnam's Taining Province sells slippers with Angkor Wat designs.

The government of Kampuchea will seek to cooperate with the Vietnamese government to stop selling such slippers.

Some brands of beer and cigarettes in Kampuchea are printed with Angkor Wat designs, but Jo Canali pointed out that Angkor Wat is a symbol of Kampuchea, printed on slippers and trampled underfoot, which is harmful to the image of Cambodia.

It is reported that the market price of this slipper is about 3 US dollars.

At present, the government of Kampuchea is looking for factories to produce such slippers. It may be in Vietnam or Kampuchea, or in Thailand.

Angkor Wat is located in Siem Reap, northern Kampuchea, also known as Angkor temple or Angkor. Sanskrit means "temple capital" and is the essence of Angkor monuments.

As a representative of Kampuchea's early architectural style, Angkor Wat was listed in the world heritage list in 1992.
