"We started exporting children's clothing in 2005 until 2009.

But since they started selling children's clothing in 2009, they have been blacklisted by the quality inspection departments of Tianjin and Guangzhou two times.

Quality inspection needs market reform

"Some factories want to protect the quality of their products."

Wang Haiye, vice president of the well known children's products brand group, told the author, "because the dangerous elements usually detected by baby and children's products are very small, the accuracy of the equipment is very high, which is totally different from the conventional equipment."

Because the quality of children's products is related to the upstream raw materials, in order to control the quality completely, it is necessary to have their own testing equipment.

"An ordinary children's clothing and children's products factory, production equipment investment is less than 10 million, how can they invest heavily in testing equipment."

"Azo dye detection process, the cost of a color detection costs four hundred or five hundred yuan, and children's clothing often contains a variety of colors, if each batch of products have to pass the test, the cost is quite high."

The national standard is clear, and the operational level has been criticized by enterprises.

As a matter of fact, the current quality inspection agency has no strength to detect all factories, and it is impossible to detect all children's clothing products.

In Europe and the United States, the third party inspection agencies carry out quality inspection and invest in the purchase of testing equipment.

When a product enters a national market, the importer can obtain the testing data at any time as long as the importer designate the third party testing organization.

Access threshold will form

The quality of children's clothing in China has not been able to go up. On the one hand, due to the lack of supervision by the relevant functional departments to the whole market, children's wear has not been included in the production license catalogue, and the access threshold for children's wear enterprises is very low.

At a professional meeting in late 2011, Xu Jian, Secretary General of the national garment Standardization Technical Committee, said that in the next two or three years, the national mandatory standards on the safety requirements of children's clothing will be declared, and the pH value, color fastness, safety and environmental protection of children's clothing should be standardized, so as to improve the safety performance of Chinese children's clothing.

Xu Jian said that children's clothing production enterprises must "familiarize themselves with" standards ahead of time, thoroughly understand their technical requirements, and effectively avoid quality risks.

For enterprises, standardization is a long-term accumulation process.

In the view of Xu Jian, standardization work only takes root in the enterprise and runs through the whole process of industrial development, so as to drive the whole children's wear industry to develop better and faster.

Therefore, we should strengthen the implementation of quality standards, mandatory standards, and related laws and regulations for children and infant clothing products, and enhance the awareness of product quality, so that manufacturing enterprises really realize the necessity of improving the quality of clothing products.
