Statistics Of Domestic Supply And Demand Of Synthetic Rubber In 2007

In 2007, the supply and demand situation of synthetic rubber in China increased. The output of styrene butadiene rubber, nitrile rubber and neoprene increased. Styrene butadiene rubber is the most productive variety, producing a total of 720 thousand tons, an increase of 23.7% over the same period last year, mainly due to the commissioning of 100 thousand tons / year synthetic rubber plant in the third quarter of 2006 and the progressive production of gold rubber at the end of May 2007. The production rate of butadiene rubber is relatively small, producing a total of 460 thousand tons, an increase of 2.9% compared to the same period last year, mainly due to the new capacity of CIS butadiene rubber, which was caused by the successive maintenance of many sets of equipment such as Yanshan, Gaoqiao and Daqing petrochemical.

SBS production was 300 thousand tons, an increase of 3.3% over the same period.

Ding Ji rubber, which was overhauled by Yanshan petrochemical in the first half of 2007, reduced its output by 7% compared with the same period last year.

The ethylene propylene rubber of Jilin chemical company is being expanded. It is expected to be put into operation in 2008, and the output of ethylene propylene rubber has not changed much in 2007.

The output of NBR and neoprene increased by 5% over the same period last year.

Imports of synthetic rubber continued to grow, including the increase in the import of polybutadiene rubber. In 2007, the import of synthetic rubber continued to increase slightly, and imported 1 million 330 thousand tons of synthetic rubber, an increase of 9% over the same period last year.

Among them, CIS polybutadiene is more imported because of domestic overhaul, and imports increased by nearly 220 thousand tons, an increase of 43% over the same period last year.

Styrene butadiene rubber increased as domestic output increased, imports slightly higher than the same period in 2006, the total import volume of about 260 thousand tons, an increase of 1% over the same period last year.

SBS was affected by factors such as more imports, higher inventory and lower demand for shoemaking industry in 2007. It imported less than 240 thousand tons in 2007, a decrease of 10% over the same period last year.

Demand for synthetic rubber is still growing rapidly, but the demand for SBS is significantly reduced. In 2007, China's rubber products industry continued to maintain a good growth momentum despite the high cost and the export tax rebate rate reduction policy.

A total of 560 million tyre covers (including some motorcycle tire output) were produced, an increase of 23% over the same period, including 250 million radial tire production, an increase of 33% over the same period last year, and 1 billion 950 million pairs of rubber shoes, an increase of 18% over the same period last year.

Based on the rapid development of downstream industries, the consumption of synthetic rubber in 2007 is still increasing at a faster rate.

The apparent consumption of synthetic rubber (calculated by Bureau of Statistics) is about 3 million 470 thousand tons, up 16% over the same period last year.

SBS consumer demand for footwear industry weakened, the apparent consumption in 2007 was 530 thousand tons, down 4% from the same period last year.
