The second annual general meeting was held in Rome Sheraton Hotel.

Nearly 400 people from overseas delegations and friends from Italy, including Rome, Milan, Florence and Naples, attended the ceremony.

The general assembly was chaired by Ruan Liwei, executive vice president and Secretary General of Italy footwear industry association. He briefly introduced the history of Italy (China) Footwear Association in the past 3 years.

Ruan Liwei said that since its inception, the chamber of Commerce has made remarkable achievements in promoting the development of Chinese enterprises for its fraternal home government, safeguarding the rights and interests of Chinese businessmen and carrying out various public welfare activities.

Many times have been commended by the relevant government departments.

Xiang Jinguang's re-election as president is the affirmation of his work by all members. I hope Mr. Xiang will continue to lead you to make new achievements in promoting the development of Chinese enterprises in the new situation and economic environment.

President Xiang Jinguang thanked the members for their support and encouragement and welcomed the guests attending the ceremony.

Xiang Jinguang said that the Italy (China) Footwear Association, with the concerted efforts of the Chinese Embassy in Italy, China's overseas Chinese Affairs Department and Italy counterparts, has consistently adhered to the service of Chinese enterprises in the joint efforts of members of the chamber of Commerce.

The purpose of the development of the industry has effectively played the role of communication and bridge of the chamber of Commerce, and has made gratifying achievements in safeguarding the rights and interests of Chinese businessmen and various public welfare activities.

The success of these achievements depends on the help and guidance of the Chinese Embassy in Italy, the governments at all levels in Italy, the competent authorities of the footwear industry in Italy, and the overseas Chinese affairs departments of China.

It is an honour and a great responsibility to be elected president again. I will live up to your trust and do my best to fulfill the responsibilities of the president and do my best to improve the environment of the operation and development of Chinese businessmen.

The chamber of Commerce will work hard to coordinate the promotion of the Chinese shoe industry in Italy in the face of the financial crisis, enhance exchanges and cooperation among Chinese footwear enterprises in Italy, strengthen information interaction among the enterprises, and resist unordered and vicious competition.

We have made unremitting efforts to enhance Sino Italian friendship and promote economic development in both regions.

On behalf of the Rome municipal government, the mayor of Rome, Mallet Greyory Ni, congratulated the chamber of Commerce on its success.

Mallet Greyory Ni said that the achievements made by the Italy (China) Footwear Association in promoting the orderly development of the same industry and promoting the exchange and cooperation between them are not only recognized by the peers in Italy, but their achievements have been generally affirmed by the society.

Secretary Huang Kaihui, on behalf of Wenzhou footwear industry association of Zhejiang, China, congratulated Italy (China) Footwear Industry Association on the successful holding of a new celebration event, and congratulated Xiang Jin Guang on her new term.

She said that the trade of Chinese footwear in Italy has made great contributions to the export of Chinese shoes to Italy and even to the European market. Italy (China) Footwear Association has made positive efforts to promote Sino Italian exchanges.

On behalf of more than 3000 shoe making enterprises in Wenzhou, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to them.

It is hoped that in the future, the chamber of Commerce will continue to establish "win-win and symbiotic" relations among member enterprises under the leadership of chairman Xiang Guang Guang, and jointly create a good environment for the development of an honest and orderly competition, establish and improve the quality assurance system, enhance the awareness of brand creation, strengthen the links between Chinese and Italian enterprises, and make new contributions to the healthy and sustainable development of China's footwear industry and the economic and social development in Italy.
