Researchers at University of Kansas say that just looking at shoes worn by one person can accurately judge 90% of strangers' character.

The study found that the personality traits that shoes reveal can include one person's approximate age, sex, income, political position, and other personality traits including emotional stability.

Djilas, chief research fellow, says these judgments are based on the style, price, color and age of the shoes. During the study, 63 students from University of Kansas watched the pictures of 208 pairs of shoes worn by the participants. Volunteers in the study were photographed wearing shoes that were most commonly worn on their daily lives, and they filled out a personality questionnaire.

So, what kind of personality traits do your shoes reflect?

However, some more specific findings are very interesting. For example, "practical and functional" shoes are usually worn by "easy-going" characters, while the owners of short boots are mostly "strong" people.

Perhaps the strangest is that those who love to wear uncomfortable looking shoes are generally more "cool headed" than others.

Besides, if you have several pairs of new shoes or are especially good at maintaining these new shoes, you may suffer from "attachment anxiety", and you spend too much time worrying about other people's perceptions of your appearance.

Research has even discovered the relationship between shoes and political positions, and those wearing "worn and cheap" shoes are more likely to be liberal parties.

Researchers pointed out that some people will choose their shoes to disguise their real personality characteristics, but researchers also pointed out that volunteers generally do not realize that their choice of shoes will give people a glimpse of their character.
