However, the Secretary General of the southern African textile clothing trade union and the Secretary of our two national organizations have formally met with senior leaders of the Zambia Garment Manufacturers Association in June 20th. At the meeting, we clarified the consequences of their conclusion.

They identified at the meeting that the new payroll rate would be over.

The southern African textile and garment trade union has carefully considered this problem. It is now a proposal to the garment manufacturers agreement that we accept the conclusion of the agreement according to the terms of their notification.

This means that all new workers whose wages have gone down by 30% will start to increase by 30% automatically from September 1st this year.
