NEIGHBORHOOD
The founder and designer, from the heyday of Harajuku to the United States today, the brand is not like the other brands are led by the trend of the nose, with the characteristics of rough design in the changing fashion circle to take a firm stand.
More recently, the latest branch line LUKER by NEIGHBORHOOD was set up in 2009, which is different from the main line. It is hit by the British rock and roll style and the locomotive model.
With LUKER by NEIGHBORHOOD launching the 2012 autumn and winter series, let us know the design concept behind the branch line and know more about this trend Icon; and LUKER by NEIGHBORHOOD is also officially launching the autumn and winter series in Hongkong. First of all, how do you start the LUKER by NEIGHBORHOOD brand line?
It can be said that there are two reasons.
First of all, because I like the fashion culture of England very much, and because this element is different from the design style of NEIGHBORHOOD, I began to think about the new branch line. Besides, LUKER by NEIGHBORHOOD product is cheaper than NEIGHBORHOOD, and there are some differences between the merchants selling LUKER by NEIGHBORHOOD and the mainline. I hope to promote my products to more people at different levels.
Can you explain the design concept of LUKER by NEIGHBORHOOD's latest 2012 autumn and winter series?
I have always liked to find new design inspiration from British culture. Both British music and street culture have influenced me deeply, and this latest series of design inspiration is also from British culture.
How did you make a clear distinction between the design of LUKER by NEIGHBORHOOD and NEIGHBORHOOD?
As long as we display two brands of single products, we will see the difference in design style at a glance; and if overall, the design of NEIGHBORHOOD is more biased towards American styling, while LUKER by NEIGHBORHOOD takes British style as the design basis.
Which category or stratum consumer is the main target of LUKER by NEIGHBORHOOD?
In fact, NEIGHBORHOOD has been established for 18 years, and its supporters are those who have experienced the Harajuku era in 90s. On the contrary, LUKER by NEIGHBORHOOD wants to target young people who have never experienced the heyday of Li Yuan su.
In fact, when I was young, I already liked Jamie Reid (the designer of the Sex Pistols "Never Mind the Bollocks" album). This artist has been fortunate enough to cooperate with him in this latest series, and the single products he made with him is my favorite.
How did you get in touch with Jamie Reid this artist? Is there anything interesting in the process of cooperation?
Actually, I had enjoyed Jamie Reid's works a long time ago, but I didn't know it was written by Jamie Reid. Until 1984, Teng Yuan Hao sent me a collection of Jamie Reid. Since then, I like this artist very much.
Although this cooperation has to be approached by intermediaries without personal face-to-face contact with him, he has also designed a Logo for LUKER by NEIGHBORHOOD, which is absolutely meaningful to me.

Have you ever encountered any creative problems in your design career?
For years, there has been a lack of creative inspiration. But for me, this is not a big problem. In general, it will soon find new inspiration from life.
Besides being responsible for the design work, I also have to take charge of the brand management. Instead, how to balance the two is the biggest problem I have ever encountered.
What kind of music do you like best? How does music affect you in your fashion design?
The most popular music types are rock and roll, Punk and reggae music.
In the 90s, fashion design was closely related to music, but now the relationship between them has gradually collapsed.
But after all, I had experienced the good times of 90s, so until now, I am still looking for new design inspiration from music.
Is the high exchange rate of Japanese yen hindering the LUKER by NEIGHBORHOOD going to the international market?
If it is totally unaffected, it must be false. Obviously, the buyers from Europe recently adopted a more conservative attitude towards our Japanese products. If the situation continues, it will have a great impact on the overseas sales of our Japanese brands.
Many Japanese fashion figures, such as the fashion style of NIGO, will change with the trend, from the early street style to the more mature and American style. Has Mr. Takizawa ever thought about changing his style?
At the level of fashion design, with the change of the trend and the emergence of new designs, I believe it is a good thing to come.
But since I founded NEIGHBORHOOD, I have no intention to change the trend with the trend of design, and for myself, my clothes reflect my attitude towards life, and I believe that my attitude towards life will never change.
