Russian Military Ban On Buying Chinese Textiles May Trigger A Sharp Rise In Domestic Textile Prices.
Russia
Vice Premier Rogozin, who is in charge of military industry, supported the proposal to ban military purchases of foreign textiles.
On the 24 day, he wrote on Facebook: "we can produce everything independently and stop buying Chinese products."
But experts questioned his proposal.
Russia, 24, said that the relevant documents of the Ministry of economic development of Russia have stipulated that all textile products should be manufactured by Russian enterprises in the national defense orders. The Russian side should prohibit the purchase of textiles such as cotton, wool, hemp, silk, fiber cloth and sewing thread from abroad.
The ban involves uniforms, casual wear, underwear, bedding, hats, socks, pillows, knitwear and footwear produced abroad.
The report said that because of its inability to compete with cheap products abroad, Russia's light industry is on the verge of collapse, and urgent measures must be taken to bring it back to life.
But some Russian experts question this if
textile
Production by Russia may trigger a sharp rise in domestic textile prices.
Moreover, many textile products are not produced in Russia and must be purchased from abroad, otherwise they will not be able to meet domestic demand.
Therefore, a simple injunction can lead to disastrous consequences.
Russian new network 24, said at the end of last year, the Russian military announced that it will restrict the use of foreign production cloth for the Russian army to make military uniform.
It is reported that 50% of Russian military uniforms are made of Chinese fabrics.
Reported that the Russian military decided to prohibit the purchase of Chinese textiles, because some of the Russian military production of military clothing factory complained to the government, their textile products are facing the competitive pressure of Chinese products.
"The cheap and poor quality cloth produced by Asian countries is squeezing domestic products," said Yevgeniy jtov, President of the Russian largest textile production company for the military department of the Ministry of defense, "Tchaikovsky" Textile Group.
The Russian law is not perfect, and the law prohibits the export of cloth with the Russian military uniform pattern, but it can import cloth to make military uniform.
Mokhov, the business manager of the company, said: "according to statistics, in 2011, we protected the Ministry of Defense's demand for cotton and cotton textiles from 15% to 17%, while in 2009, the proportion was 50%."
In this regard, Russia's Ministry of national defense
Purchasing Bureau
Secretary Darya Morozzova said that all materials purchased in the defense procurement framework will only be products produced by Russian manufacturers, and only when domestic manufacturers do not produce them will they be able to buy products from foreign companies.
