Application Of Thickener In Liquid Cleaning Products

It is an anionic fatty alcohol acrylate copolymer, designed as a new liquid thickener for surfactant system.

The thickening properties, salt tolerance and foaming properties of YES were compared with those of commonly used thickening surfactants 6501, CAB and OA-30. Meanwhile, the effects of pH value and temperature change on viscosity of thickening agent of YES thickener were also studied.

The results show that YES thickener has good thickening performance and wide application range of pH, and has good foam, temperature resistance and salt tolerance.

At present, the thickening capacity of surfactants used in liquid washing products is mainly 6501 coconut two alcohol ethanolamine, CAB (coconut amide propyl betaine and amine oxide).

However, the synergistic thickening ability of the above products to the surface active system is generally, especially in the low surface active content system or the non-ionic surface active system. Its synergistic thickening ability can not satisfy the requirements of the viscosity of the liquid detergent products.

An increase of 6501 (coconut two ethanolamine, CAB (coconut amide propyl betaine and amine oxide) or additional thickeners can solve the problem of viscosity of liquid detergent products, but it will also increase the cost of raw materials for liquid detergent products.

The development of a thickening agent which has strong thickening properties, and also has the characteristics of foaming agent and cleaning detergency has broad prospects.

Experiment part.

Raw materials: sulfonic acid (96%, twelve alkylbenzene sulfonic acid); AES (70%, twelve alkyl polyoxyethylene ether -3 sodium sulfate; CAB (30% coconut oil amide propyl betaine; OA-30 (30%), coconut amide propyl amine oxide; 6501 (98%, 1: 1 coconut oil two ethanolamide); YES thickener; KOH (two, potassium hydroxide, NaOH (two, sodium hydroxide, triethanolamine (TEA99%).

Instruments: NDJ-1 rotary viscometer, agitator, Roche foam instrument, thermometer.

The mixture of sulphonic acid 10% and AES 7.5% was added to the solution. Then 6501, CAB, OA-30 and YES were added as thickeners respectively. The addition amounts were 0.5%, 0.8%, 1.2%, 1.5% and 2% respectively. The amount of salt was set at 0.5%, the pH was adjusted to about 7.80, and the viscosity was measured at 25 degrees Celsius. It can be seen that in the AES/ sulfonic acid detergent system, the viscosity of the product increased and the thickening performance was YES>6501>OA-30>CAB with the increase of the addition of YES>6501>OA-30>CAB, CAB, OA-30 and YES.

It can be seen from the above experimental data that YES thickeners have good properties in different surfactant systems.

Its thickening capacity is far greater than 6501, CAB and OA-30. It has good thickening of liquid detergent products through the combined action of alkali, surfactant and salt.

Especially in low surface active systems, it is more difficult to thicken.

The mixture of 9.5% sulfonic acid, 8.2%AES and 0.8%YES was added to the solution, NaOH was adjusted to pH=7.80, and salt was added to 0.72%.

The viscosity of the detergent was tested at a temperature of 5 C to 40 C at different temperatures. The thickening formula of YES was gentle with the temperature and was similar to that of the well-known brand products. Especially under high temperature, the viscosity of the thickened formulation with YES was higher than that of the famous brands in the market, indicating that it had a certain degree of high temperature stability.

Salt tolerance of YES thickeners.

The mixture of sulphonic acid 3.5% and AES2.5% was added to the solution. Then 2.5% of 6501, CAB, OA-30 and YES were added as thickeners. It can be seen from the experimental data that salt and YES thickeners have good synergistic thickening in liquid washing products.

In the same formulation system, the thickening performance of YES is better than that of 6501, CAB and OA-30.

In the same formulation system, the salt tolerance of YES is close to CAB and OA-30, which is 1.5 times that of 6501.

YES thickener has good thickening performance in liquid cleaning products.

The YES thickener and the commonly used surfactants mixed liquid have good foam and show good compatibility.

YES thickener can produce stable liquid detergent products with high content of surfactant and salt, showing its superior ionic and salt tolerance.

YES thickener is suitable for wide pH range (4.5~11.5).

The thickening system of YES thickener has good temperature dependence, high temperature is not too thin, and low temperature is not too thick.
