Zhu Zhaoyang, deputy county magistrate of Bishan County, said in an interview with the first Financial Daily yesterday that in addition to the introduction of the company, he is also negotiating with 8 Taiwanese funded enterprises invested in the eastern part of the Taiwan Strait. These Taiwanese shoe enterprises have an annual output of more than 5 million pairs.

Zhang Shuhua, director of the China Leather Association, said that the footwear industry was a "migratory bird economy" and always shifted to areas with low production costs. In the 60s of last century, the world shoe center moved to Japan and South Korea in Italy in 70s, and pferred to Taiwan in 80s. In 90s, it moved to Dongguan, Guangdong and Wenzhou, Zhejiang. Now it is pferring from the east to the central and western parts of the country, and the low cost in the west is attracting eastern capital inflows.

Zhejiang Wenzhou footwear giant AOKANG group has been investing in Chongqing since 2003. The chairman of the group, Wang Zhentao, said that the overall cost of the footwear industry has increased by 20% since last year, and the cost pressure of the enterprises has been increasing with no apparent increase in the retail price of leather shoes.

Compared with the eastern coastal areas, the production of a pair of shoes in Chongqing and Bishan can save about 20% of the cost.
