Ethnic Costumes Should Be Respectful Of Personal Choice.

At the just concluded two sessions, the representatives and members of the NPC and CPPCC from China's ethnic minorities wore colorful national costumes to become a landscape of the P venues.

< p > some of the minority costumes are clothes in daily life, but some ethnic costumes are worn only in their history. They are usually kept in museums or used in stage performances.

The representatives and members of these ethnic minorities are dressed in national costumes, mainly for the purpose of showing the exercise of the right of minority participation in the policy of ethnic minorities to the outside world.

In the mid 80s of last century, when I was studying at the Central Nationalities College, many times and all my classmates were asked to wear some national costume to participate in some large political activities in the Great Hall of the people. Our role was displayed as a representative of the national minority, showing that all ethnic minorities participated equally in all kinds of political activities.

My later classmates and school girls kept repeating the same scenes.

Now, P news is often seen in domestic news. Some leaders inspect ethnic areas, in laboratories, production frontline, office offices and so on. In television pictures or photographs, there will be local minorities wearing ethnic costumes and leaders.

Whenever I see these things, I will laugh. I know that the national costumes are "worn".

Because in reality, no matter what ethnic groups are dressed in these places, they must wear professional work clothes instead of national costumes.

Now, who can tell what the Han nationality's costume is? Hanfu, long gown, mandarin jacket, Chinese tunic and Qipao are the Manchu's national costumes. Now they have become one of the symbols of Chinese traditional culture. Most of the people who like to wear Qipao are not Manchu.

Suit is also an imported product, but now it has become a formal dress. We wear a suit that does not express recognition and accept everything in the West.

Why is the costume of ethnic minorities endowed with political meaning and labelled as a political symbol, thus being solidified and two misread? < /p >

< p > in China, there was a period when individuals dressed to judge their political positions, and the western media judged the trend of Chinese politics with the dress of Chinese leaders.

Facts have proved that these are all wrong.

< p > in fact, what clothes to wear is entirely a matter of personal choice. There is no need to raise it to the level of political symbols.

The achievement of our national policy does not need to be displayed with the props of national costume. Otherwise, it will only lead to more political imagination of national costumes, which will adversely affect the actual work.

National costumes are the products of ethnic groups' practical and aesthetic clothing, and also the individual choices of members of all nationalities. The best way is to respect individual's self selection.

Wearing ethnic costumes does not mean that we are self closed and unwilling to accept the outstanding elements of other nationalities.

To eliminate the political color of ethnic costumes and return the original intention of ethnic costumes to their personal necessities, we can put an end to the tendency of political instrumentalism of ethnic costumes.
