UNIQLO Refused To Join Bangladesh To Install Production Agreement
< p > > a href= "http://www.91se91.com/news/index_p.asp" > Japan < /a > UNIQLO is a popular clothing retailer. After the collapse of the Bangladesh garment factory, UNIQLO did not join the Bangladesh installation agreement, but chose to open two retail stores directly in Bangladesh.
The company says it wants to bring safety to Bangladesh.
< /p >
The clothes sold by the two stores will be produced by factories in Bangladesh, which will be manufactured according to the "independent safety standards" of P.
< /p >
"What we are thinking now is (PS: to improve Bangladesh's production safety) what we can do ourselves," said Yukihiro Nitta, head of the social responsibility department of P, the parent company of UNIQLO.
< /p >
< p > UNIQLO is the first international fashion retail companies to open stores in Bangladesh.
< /p >
< p > since the collapse of a garment factory building in Bangladesh in April and the deaths of 1129 celebrities, a total of 80 clothing retail companies signed a "safety agreement" to ensure the safe production of Bangladesh supplier factories.
But UNIQLO refused to join the agreement.
< /p >
Cathy Feingold, head of international affairs at P AFL-CIO, said that many chain retail companies have developed their own safety production standards, which claim that their safety standards are binding on suppliers' factories.
But the practice of twenty years has proved that this way is failure, so the decentralized and unorganized independent supervision method is far from enough.
Therefore, under the leadership of the ILO IndustriALL Global Union, a "safety agreement" was designed to supervise the safe production of supplier factories. IndustriALL Global Union has persuaded many European and American companies to join the agreement. In the coming months, they will also exert pressure on the Asian companies to urge them to join the agreement.
< /p >
< p > the Secretary General of the IndustriALL Global Union, who led the development of the security agreement, said a href= "http://www.91se91.com/pioneer/" > Jyrki Raina < /a >: "what we can do now is to let our Japanese branches find some Target Corp and see how they should be urged to join the agreement."
< /p >
< p > UNIQLO has been making garments in Bangladesh since 2008, but most of its garments are made by Chinese factories.
Fast marketing group is striving to expand its scale to become the world's largest apparel retail group by 2020.
At present, fast selling group is the fourth largest apparel retailer in the world.
< /p >
< p > however, the negative reports of UNIQLO in production increased rapidly from 2011 to 2012.
Among them, the report of "serious violation" of UNIQLO factory increased from 19 to 34, and the reports of "serious immorality" and "serious offense" increased from zero to seven.
