Infant Clothing Standards Formally Implemented In October 1St

China's first industry standard, specifically formulated for infants and young children (24 months and under age), is to be implemented in October 1st.

Compared with the previous standards of children's clothing, this standard has clearly defined the quantitative indicators. The contents of arsenic, copper and formaldehyde in clothing contain specific standards. It is also stipulated that the "dry cleaning" must be marked, the maximum collar size of the pullover is not less than 52 centimeters, and metal accessories should not have burrs.

The heavy metal content of clothing is marked with the standard label "not dry cleaned" in the new standard, with special emphasis. Because the dry cleaning agent may contain substances that stimulate the infant's skin, the infant clothing must be marked "not dry cleaned" on the label.

Only a small number of infants and young children wear labels on the signboard "dry cleaning", but most of the clothes in the washing reminder, there is only one "not chlorine bleach".

The standard first specified the quantitative indicators. The content of extractable heavy metals in infant clothing and clothing should not exceed 0.2 mg per kilogram, and copper should not exceed 25 mg per kilogram.

The formaldehyde content most concerned by parents must be less than or equal to 20 milligrams per kilogram.

In order to ensure that clothes do not stimulate the tender skin of infants and young children, the pH value must be limited to 4 to 7.5.

The standard also explicitly requires that the decomposable aromatic amine dyes are forbidden in infant clothing and there should be no peculiar smell.

The collar of the pullover is not less than 52 centimeters. It is better not to use the new zipper standard for the opening of trousers.

In view of the characteristics of infants and young children pulling clothes and biting clothes, there are some mandatory provisions specially designed to protect infants and young children's safety, such as the size of the collar, the unfastener of the zipper, the length and strength of the rope and so on.

In order to minimize safety and health risks, experts suggest that mothers should pay attention to check whether the metal accessories of the clothes are burr, whether the edge tips are sharp or not, and to apply buttons to the front of the trousers instead of the zippers when buying clothes for 24 months.

In addition, try not to buy printed, sequins beads of clothing; preferably after washing; clothing labels should be promptly removed.

It is best not to have a rope around the neckline cap. The maximum collar size of the pullover is preferably greater than 52 centimeters. After buying children's clothing, it is best to wash it before wearing it.
