China'S Textile Export Growth Is Slowing Down

Before the financial crisis, exports of Chinese textile and clothing fell by 11% in the first half of 2008 to 63 billion euros.

In the first 8 months of this year, China's textile and clothing exports to the United States dropped by 4%, although exports to Europe and France continued to grow, but the growth rate slowed down significantly.

Reported that China's textile and apparel sudden slowdown may be further intensified.

Gildas Minvielle, head of economic observation at the French Fashion Institute, estimates that China's exports to European textile and apparel this year increased by only 3%, as the growth rate in the first 8 months of this year was 6%.

He pointed out that this is China's lowest growth year since 2005.

But we should also see that although China can not compare with the past, but in Europe, the consumption of the market has declined, and the textile exporting countries of the countries outside the Union have reduced their textile exports by 2%.

In 4 years, imports from China doubled from 11 billion 300 million euros in 2004 to 23 billion euros in 2008.

In the first 8 months of this year, the import value of France's clothing imports from China increased by 7%, while that of France's clothing imports increased by only 3%.

Reported that Gildas Minvielle also pointed out that it is very important that the quotas for China's six categories of clothing sensitive products were abolished at the end of 2007, and a double monitoring system is being adopted for its imports.

These six products account for 40% of China's exports to European clothing. In the first 8 months of this year, exports of such products to Europe increased by 26%, while that of 60% of China's clothing exports had dropped by 4%.
