WTO Ruling Supports EU Ban On Canadian Seal Products Trade
< p > the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organization issued a verdict on the dispute between Norway and Canada in prosecuting the European Union Limited seals products. The Report endorsed the EU's restrictive measures on seal products trading, saying it did not violate Global trade rules. < /p >
< p > according to the official website of China World Trade Center, Fast, Minister of Fisheries of China World Trade Center, Minister of Fisheries and ocean, and Minister of environment Aage Luca J jointly issued a statement to firmly defend the traditional, sustainable, humane and strictly controlled hunting and seal activities of indigenous peoples living in the northeastern part of China World Trade Center. < /p >
In P 2009, the European Parliament passed a bill to ban the trade of seals in the EU market, including "a href=" http://www.91se91.com/news/index_c.asp "seal skin" /a ", meat, fat and other products. This bill has blocked the way of money in some countries near the north pole that have been killing seals. < /p >
< p > for example, Canada, the largest seal country in the world, exports 1/3 of its total exports to the EU market every year. < /p >
In November 2009, Canada and Norway sued the European Union to the WTO dispute settlement body (P) and entered the dispute resolution process for several years. In November 2013, the WTO dispute settlement body decided that the EU's injunction would continue to be effective in view of the public morality clause in the trade agreement. < /p >
The reasons for the anti hunting ban of < p > a href= "http://www.91se91.com/news/index_c.asp" > Canada > /a > are as follows: first, the killing of seals is the traditional and main business activities of the locals; two, the number of seals is huge and sustainable, and the government is also supervising the industry; three, the way of killing is in line with ethics < a href= "http://www.91se91.com/news/index_c.asp" > moral standard < /a >. < /p >
At the same time, Norway and Canada also defended the attack, accusing some European countries of keeping the deer hunting tradition, and commercial hunting activities were also widespread, which also violated the morality of animals. P < /p >
< p > the reason for this trade dispute is not the trade dispute, but the animal protection problem. This is the first time WTO has dealt with such a dispute. Since the European Union's ban on hunting and killing came into force in 2010, the seal hunting in Norway and Canada has been greatly affected. They have adjusted their strategies ahead of time to find new outlets, and the Chinese market is the next target they are aiming at. < /p >
In recent years, more than 10 countries around the world have issued a ban on seal products trading, or have announced plans to ban such transactions. P It is understood that China's annual imports of seal products are about $1 million. Chinese attitudes may directly determine the future fate of seals. < /p >
