09 Prospects: The New Year'S Message To The President Of Du Yu Zhou

At the beginning of the new year, on behalf of the China Textile Industry Association, I extend new year's greetings and cordial condolences to the about 20000000 employees of the whole industry.

The past 2008 was a very extraordinary year.

This year, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee, China defeated the rare disasters of freezing rain, snow and ice and the devastating earthquake in Wenchuan, and wrote a heroic song of triumph. The twenty-ninth Beijing Olympic Games and the Beijing Paralympic Games were successfully held in 2008, and realized the dream of the Chinese nation for a hundred years. The Shenzhou seven manned spaceflight was successfully completed, achieving a significant milestone in the development of space technology. We overcome the adverse effects of major changes in the international economic environment, strengthen and improve macroeconomic regulation and control, and maintain the good momentum of economic and social development.

At the same time, we ushered in reform and opening up 30th anniversary.

Reform and opening up is the key choice to decide the fate of contemporary China and the only way to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

The course of reform and opening up in the past 30 years has fundamentally changed China, and has also made the Chinese textile industry realize the rapid development of productivity quality, industrial scale structure and industrial competitiveness, making China the largest textile producer, consumer and exporter in the world.

In the past 2008, the textile industry encountered some difficulties.

It should be recognized that the difficulties of the textile industry are mainly caused by the impact of international financial and economic crisis. Of course, there is also the inevitable impact of industrial upgrading in the industry to get rid of the deep-seated contradictions of the extensive development mode.

The increase of external pressure and internal structural problems aggravated the "labor pains" in the process of changing the development mode and promoting industrial upgrading in the textile industry.

In essence, the arrival of this crisis should become a propellant for accelerating the adjustment and upgrading of China's textile industry.

There are opportunities in difficulties, so long as the whole industry builds confidence, speeds up structural adjustment and industrial upgrading, improves independent innovation capability, improves the contribution rate of science and technology and brand to textile economic growth, and turns the development of textile industry truly, relying on technological progress, cultural innovation, labor quality improvement and management innovation, we will surely overcome the crisis and go to a new level.

The year 2009 has arrived. We believe that the fundamentals of the national macro-economy are stable and the macro control space is large. We believe that the central government's policy of "ensuring growth, expanding domestic demand and adjusting the structure" and the consistent policy of the central government and the central government will gradually show its positive effects.

We should also see that China's textile industry itself is improving its ability to resist risks. The policies adopted by the State Council to take the textile industry as an important pillar industry have produced timely assistance and tremendous encouragement, and greatly enhanced the confidence of the industry in overcoming all difficulties.

Although the world has entered the "winter" of the economic crisis, we have reason to believe that as long as we earnestly implement the Scientific Outlook on Development, persist in reform and opening up, take a new road to industrialization, speed up structural adjustment and industrial upgrading, we will be able to turn the "winter day" of the world economic crisis into the "spring" of China's textile industry upgrading, and the road to building a textile power will go wider and wider.
