Zhejiang Textile Enterprises Exit The Exhibition Results Surprise People
Ling Weiming, general manager of Changxin silk Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Province, is busy preparing for the March Panama international trade exhibition in 2009. Changxin silk company is a textile foreign trade enterprise which produces knitted fabric and organic cloth. Last year, the company exported 46 million US dollars and the South American market accounted for 70%. Since 2006, Ling Weiming has participated in the Panama international trade exhibition every year. "Only by participating in this exhibition can enterprises open the South American market." Reporter learned from the Zhejiang provincial foreign trade and Economic Cooperation Department, according to incomplete statistics, in 2008, Zhejiang enterprises took part in more than 40 thousand exhibitors at home and abroad, ranking the first in all provinces and cities in China. Among them, the number of booths for overseas exhibitors reached 10 thousand, accounting for 1/3 of the number of exhibitors in Chinese enterprises. These exhibitions brought nearly $15 billion in exports to Zhejiang enterprises, accounting for about 10% of Zhejiang's exports in that year. Zhejiang's exhibitors have experienced tangible benefits. According to the sampling statistics of Zhejiang provincial foreign trade and Economic Cooperation Department, the cost of finding a single customer by Zhejiang enterprises through exhibition channels is 500 yuan, while the cost of other channels is 2000 yuan. Ling Weiming gave the reporters an account. He participated in 20 exhibitions a year, even if he only participated in 100 thousand exhibitions, and only 2 million yuan, but the order of a large customer was more than 2 million yuan. "Customers will not fall from the sky in the factory, so this year my plan is to participate in 15 to 20 exhibitions." Exit exhibitors have also become an important measure for Zhejiang's foreign trade and economic cooperation departments to guide enterprises to explore the international market. In 2008, Zhejiang held two autonomous exhibitions in Osaka, Japan and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
