Pringle Of Scotland And Scotland National Museum Start Retrospective Exhibition
Scotland National Museum will hold a retrospective exhibition to explore the history of Scotland's traditional luxury knitting brand Pringle of Scotland.
As one of the oldest fashion brands in the world, the classic retrospective of "returning to Pringle: the memory of the film" has made a milestone in the brand 200th anniversary. It has resolved a brand development process from small knitted underwear companies to knitted fashion clothes, which has always been at the forefront of the times, and has witnessed the core position of knitwear in modern fashion.
The brand was founded in 1815 by Robert Pringle (Robert Pringle) in the origin of Scotland knitting industry (Hawick). At the beginning of its brand creation, it was only a company mainly producing luxurious knitted socks and underwear.
Since its inception, technological innovation has always brought unlimited possibilities to brand development. In the early twentieth Century, Pringle of Scotland had pioneered the use of design functional underwear technology to make fashion clothes.
Pringle of Scotland has been committed to making a one-piece knitted garment tailored to the shape of the machine.
The unique elasticity and ductility of knitwear can closely fit the body without affecting the flexibility of the activity. The unique comfort of this knitted fabric has become an important quality requirement of contemporary fashion and sports apparel in the twentieth Century.
Georgina Ripley, curator of contemporary fashion and textiles exhibition in National Museum, Scotland, said: "Pringle of Scotland has a very long history, rich and diverse history, and has become one of the world's top fashion knitted brands.
The roving exhibition is specially selected in 200th anniversary of Pringle's index significance. It was first exhibited in Scotland's National Museum, which has the richest and most comprehensive collection of fashion and textile products in the UK. It is definitely a classic exhibition that the followers of fashion and design can not miss.
In order to recreate the history of brand making from knitted underwear to coat, the classic retrospective exhibition of "returning to Pringle: the memory of Hawick" has also collected exhibits from the royal family, the Museum Women, the women's Golf Museum (Museum), and the classic archives of the Pringle brand.
The highlights of the exhibition include the cashmere cardigan knitted sweater owned by Princess Gerd Lise Kelly of Monaco in 1960s, the golf jersey worn by legendary golfer Gloria Minoprio, and the two piece of classic blue cashmere sweater made by designer Otto Weisz in 1934, the two piece knitwear designer of 1934.
In addition, Michael Clark, a famous modern dancer from Scotland (Michael Clark), has created three short films for the exhibition. Each of them has taken the key words of the brand for interpretation, and explored the demands of form and art with modern dance, especially showing the role of knitted garments in the development of modern fashion.
The three videos illustrate the unique properties of knitted fabrics, including warmth retention, elasticity and air permeability, using knitted underwear and coat.
It is these unique attributes that make knitted fabrics emphasize the warm underwear design from nineteenth Century to twentieth Century, leading to the trend of fashion.
Alistair ONeil (Alistair O'Neill), the curator of the memory of the memory of "Pu Pu GUI: Pringle," said: "this retrospective exhibition is not only the milestone of Pringle brand 200th anniversary, but also witnessed the core position of knitwear in modern fashion.
The classic two piece set (The Twinset) is still a fashion item.
What is more exciting is that such a classic design can show how Scotland knitwear leads the twentieth Century fashion trend through a broader perspective, and profoundly reflects the two character characteristics of Pringle of Scotland's fusion of traditional and modern fashions.
Brand long commitment to special design will also be explored.
In 1934, the arrival of Otto Weisz, an industrial designer in Austria, brought different European customs to Pringle's knitting aesthetics.
In 1950s, Weisz and a number of designers from the Glasgow School of Art, Glasgow, created a whole new series of cultural heritage and innovative technology.
Pringle of Scotland
We still adhere to the spirit of innovation, and continue to promote the development of fashion technology. The design of the 2014 set will also be displayed in the exhibition.
High collar knitted sweater
It is the combination of materials and knitted materials through the manual weaving of the stereoscopic material printed by 3D, using the traditional technology and sophisticated technology to create an avant-garde design with equal emphasis on dynamic and aesthetic sense.
The symbol of Scotland's classic Argyle (Pattern) pattern was originally designed by Pringle. A 1960s cashmere diamond diamond pattern cashmere cardigan is a very representative work, which shows the exquisite process of the brand perfectly.
The classic knitted two piece suit (twinset) is another modern brand design of the brand, the combination of the sweater and the matching wool cardigan. It has become the representative style of Pringle of Scotland since 1930s, and it was fashionable at that time.
The exhibition will also show a number of classics, including the two piece designed by Scotland independent film queen Tilda Swinton (Tilda Swinton) across the film, art and fashion in 2010.
This limited series uses the design of the elbow patch, which is inspired by the Pringle of Scotland knitted two piece suit that Swinton's grandmother likes.
Since 1948,
Pringle
It has become a royal knitted apparel manufacturer, and has provided many members of the royal family with underwear and clothing.
A sweater worn by Queen Elizabeth II was also featured in the royal exhibition hall, accompanied by a letter from the queen thanking Pringle for her gift.
Good brand image has always been the core concept of Pringle heritage. As early as 1950s, the brand was focused on social celebrities and the support of art aesthetics to the brand.
In the fashionable girl sweater girl after World War II, Pringle invited female stars to show their latest style design inside and outside the screen, including the famous actress Margaret Lockwood (Margraret Lockwood) and the female star of the ballet chief actress Ira Hiller (Moira Shearer).
Pringle has also established an innovative tradition of selecting brand models from employees.
The selected girls were sent to London for training in appearance, behavior and modeling courses. This unique brand operation mode with the affinity of Hollywood stars and girls next door is a broader market for Pringle.
After the review of the Pringle, the National Museum will usher in four new pavilions, including decorative art, design and fashion, in 2016. This is also one of the next big projects with a cost of 14 million 100 thousand pounds. The project has planned to build ten pavilions to display the important natural, technological, artistic and design works collected by National Museum in Scotland.
