At the beginning of 2016, OEKO-TEX international environmental protection.

The Association released the latest version of the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 standard and limit requirement.

After 3 months of pition, the new standard will be formally implemented in April 1, 2016.

The new standard fully combines the latest version of the REACH list of highly concerned substances (SVHC), the "zero discharge of hazardous chemicals (ZDHC)" and the "detoxification action" requirement, and is committed to promoting the common environmental protection goals of the whole industry.

The new OEKO-TEX Standard 100 standard covers twelve changes and is listed below.

    Change 1: perfluorinated compounds

In the perfluorinated compounds test, three new substances and their salts were detected, including perfluoroheptanic acid (PFHpA), perfluorononyl acid (PFNA) and perfluorodecic acid (PFDA).

The limit values for each substance are 0.05mg/kg (level I), 0.10mg/kg (II and III level) and 0.50mg/kg (IV level).

    Change two: organotin compounds

Ten new organotin compounds are added.

These substances include tin butyrate (MBT), methyl tin (MMT), octyltin (MOT), two methyl tin (DMT), two phenyl tin (DPhT), tricyclic tin (TCyHT), trimethyl tin (TMT), three octyl tin (TOT), three propyltin (TPT) and four butyltin (TeBT).

The limit values for each substance are 1.0mg/kg (level I) and 2.0mg/kg (II to IV level) respectively.

Change three: phthalate two formic acid (softener)

In the phthalate two formic acid ester (softener) test item, new detection of phthalic acid two benzoic acid was added, and the regulatory requirements for the existing phthalate two formic acid were modified.

Subsequently, the limit values for grades II to IV are more stringent.

After the standard update, the total limit values of all two phthalate esters were 0.1% (1000mg/kg) for grades I to III, and for the level IV, the total limit value of all two phthalates was 0.1% (1000mg/kg) except for o-benzoic acid two (two).

    Change four: UV stabilizer

For the class IV, add "UV stabilizer" test items.

The test item required regulatory requirements for four substances, including UV320, UV327, UV328 and UV350, with a limit of 0.1% (1000mg/kg) for each substance.

These substances were included in the SVHC candidate list in December 2014 and 2015.

    Change five: insecticide

In the "insecticide" test items, 7 new nicotinic substances were added, including acetamiprid, quinidine, furazolamide, imidacloprid, nitenpyridine, thiacloprid and thiamethoxam.

In addition, a new test for the discharge of the drug was added.

The limit value of total insecticide is the same as the current standard.

    Change six: chlorinated phenol

In chlorphenol, new chlorinated and two chlorinated substituted phenols were added. The limit values were 0.5mg/kg (grade I) and 3.0mg/kg (II to IV level).

Change seven: chlorobenzene and toluene chloride.

In the calculation of the total amount of chlorinated benzene and chlorinated toluene, the amount of chlorobenzene was increased, and the limit value of the total quantity remained unchanged, still 1.0mg/kg.

    Change eight: banned carcinogenic dyes

In the list of banned carcinogenic dyes, a new C.I. alkaline blue 26 (more than 0.1% meter Hiller ketone or MI Hiller base), C.I. alkaline violet 3 (more than 0.1% m, Hiller or Michelet base), alkaline green 4 (malachite green chloride), alkaline green 4 (malachite green salt) and alkaline green 4 (peacock green) were also added.

    Variety nine: polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

The OEKO-TEX extraction method for detecting polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) was optimized again.

Compared with previous laboratory test results, the optimized method may make the detection of PAH content higher, but the current limit value remains unchanged.

    Change ten: residual surfactants

The limit values of nonylphenol (NP), octyl phenol (OP), nonylphenol ethoxylate NP (EO) and octyl phenol polyoxyethylene ether OP (EO) are changed from less than 100 mg/kg to less than 100 mg/kg.

    Change Eleven: flame retardant products

Three new substances were added to the list of banned flame retardants, including two - (2,3- dibrompropyl) phosphate (BIS), four bromo bisphenol A (TBBPA) and 2,2- bis (Xiu Jiaji) -1,3- propanediol (BBMP).

In addition, since January 1, 2016, as stipulated in the previous levels I to III, in the future, for IV grade products (home decoration materials), only flame retardant substances that have been assessed to be harmless (based on latest technology) and have been added to the OEKO-TEX approval list can be used.

Future flame-retardant products may only be used in category IV products.

    Change twelve: carcinogenic aromatic amine

In the category of "carcinogenic aromatic amines", the 4,4'- two amino two phenyl methane (4,4'-diaminobiphenylmethane) listed above will be changed to a more commonly used name (4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane).

However, OEKO-TEX clearly stated that the two names describe the same chemical substance.

OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is a product certification in the field of textiles. It tests and certify all the toxic and harmful substances in the textile supply chain and plays an important role in the field of testing harmful substances in textiles.

Since the establishment of the standards in 1992, OEKO-TEX has issued more than 150000 certificates, and has issued more than 14000 certificates in the past 12 months, an increase of 5.7% over last year.

Since 2010, in the implementation of OEKO-TEX Standard 100 as the standard product hazardous substances testing, OEKO-TEX has implemented the mandatory quality management audit all over the world.

Up to now, the audit evaluation shows that at least once every three years, the enterprise on-site audit can not only effectively guarantee the quality of ecological textiles, but also provide effective support for the quality management module in the STeP by OEKO-TEX certification system.

In addition to the detection of hazardous substances, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and its extensive market sampling inspection, quality management audit, and seminars and training on related topics play a major role in helping textile enterprises find and eliminate the unknown weaknesses in operation, especially those related to ZDHC action or detoxification actions.

In the future, OEKO-TEX will continue to work together with enterprises to promote the progress of the textile industry.
