The banks in the country were responsible for the majority of the people's Congress and were not optimistic about the textile industry. They believed that the textile industry was a high-risk industry and did not dare to lend to textile enterprises.

In fact, the textile industry has made or is still making important contributions to the GDP of our country.

Not to mention the leading position of the textile industry in the whole country's industry at the beginning of the founding of the people's Republic of China.

Even now, under the environment of industrial development in China, the development of the textile industry is still better than that of steel and cement industries.

Statistics Bureau data show that in 1~4 months, the total profit of 33 industries in 41 industrial sectors of the whole country has increased compared with the same period in 2015, of which the textile industry grew by 6.8%, which is better than the national average of 6.5%.

In fact, the debate about whether the textile industry is the sunset industry has a long history.

So what is the sunset industry? Is the traditional industry a sunset industry?

At present, the definition of the public is that the so-called sunset industry refers to the image of the traditional industrial sector which tends to decline.

Sunset industry

Life cycle is related to some products, technology is mature, continuous innovation is drying up, market is saturated, products are homogeneous, competition is fierce, and profits are very low.

According to this definition, it seems that some characteristics of the textile industry are consistent with the sunset industry.

However, the development of textile in the world has continued for several hundred years. Despite the ups and downs of the development of China's textile industry, no matter how bad the living environment is, no matter how bad the environment is, only a little sunshine can bring vitality and glory.

More than a decade ago, when the renminbi was at its initial stage of appreciation, the result of the economic circle, including the calculation of the enterprise itself, was that if the RMB appreciated by 5%, the whole industry would lose money, and the textile industry would be faced with the risk of bankruptcy.

But our appreciation of the renminbi has already exceeded that ratio, and we have not failed.

When we first joined the WTO, many enterprises said that according to the WTO rules, the textile industry would be faced with the risk of "downfall". But the result is that we have not failed, but on the contrary, we have made better progress.

As we all know, sunrise industry is relative to the sunset industry.

In fact, when many Chaoyang enterprises rose, they entered their countdown to the sunset industry.

Whether an industry is a sunrise industry or a sunset is not determined by the time in which the industry appears, nor is it determined by some experts, nor by the level of industry.

It is determined by the market. As long as there is a market and a sustainable market, it is a sunrise industry.

In this sense, traditional industries are not the same as sunset industries. For example, the film industry is late than the development of the textile industry, but with the popularity of digital cameras, fewer and fewer people are using film. The film industry is disappearing, so it should be said to be a sunset industry.

For example, the polysilicon industry, which was called high-tech hi-tech industry several years ago, has suddenly become a declining industry.

The textile industry, which has several hundred years of development, has not disappeared. The United States, which represents the direction of world technology development, has also proposed slogans to revive the American textile industry in recent years.

Therefore, we can confidently say that the textile industry is neither a sunset industry nor a backward industry.

The industry is merging with high-tech and many other fields.

Misunderstanding two: low tech and low added value

In the eyes of many people, the textile industry has always been a low technology industry.

There is no reason for such a view.

First of all, as a traditional industry, in the minds of people, textiles are more responsible for shielding the body from the cold.

As we know, with the development of science and technology, with the continuous penetration and integration of multi-disciplinary technology, the textile industry has become or is becoming an industry of "integration of technology and fashion, clothing consumption and industrial use simultaneously."

Textiles have a high technical content and have been in existence for a long time.

Intelligent equipment

The technological progress of textile industry is first manifested in the intellectualization of textile machinery.

Product functionalization

In the past two years, the United States has launched a series of high-tech textiles and clothing.

For example, the Muldoon textile company of the United States has developed a fabric that can generate heat automatically through microfiber and lithium batteries; Northface has launched a high-tech jacket with small lithium batteries for energy, and the temperature of clothes can be adjusted with the regulator; the MIT nanotechnology Institute also plans to start next month to develop soldier uniform that can resist bullet, prevent gas, heal automatically and change colors according to the scene.

The "textile club", composed of more than 30 textile enterprises in the northern Calais region, is a light-emitting fabric made of fiber and traditional woven yarn. It can be widely used in signal signs, safety warning and rear tarpaulin in the rear of trucks.

Fuji textile company of Japan has developed a fabric containing special chemicals that can help people absorb the daily vitamin C.

Korean clothing companies introduce super strong floating textiles, and only 300 of these fabrics can float 130 feet in water easily.

Spinning technology

Misunderstanding three: market space disappeared, competitiveness weakened

Whether it is national defense industry or health care, it has been applied to traffic, safety, sports and entertainment.

Medical and sanitary textiles

The performance of the new type of fire fighting clothing and rescue clothing has reached the international advanced level; the new generation of high-performance military police training clothing has multiple protective properties; the composite structure biological protective fabric can effectively prevent the virus from invading and the moisture permeability and perspiration performance is durable; the domestic polyacrylonitrile based activated carbon fiber composite fabric can meet the technical requirements of the nuclear and biochemical protective clothing; and the high-performance rope of high-rise residential emergency escape, mine rescue and ocean engineering achieves a major technological breakthrough.

Textile for structural reinforcement

Semi rigid battery windshield warp knitted material greatly lightens weight for "Tiangong-1" satellite; glass fiber and carbon fiber composite material lightens the weight of wind turbine blades and prolongs its service life; large diameter high pressure software delivery and storage tanks have been used in national defense industry and emergency rescue; mass production of carbon fiber composite structure parts for large aircraft; mass production of carbon fiber composite core wires is widely applied in pmission lines.

Misunderstanding four: development space is small, no future.

At present, the capacity of the textile industry has shifted to overseas. Domestic enterprises are also in the process of pformation and upgrading. Many enterprises feel that the economic operation can not be as satisfactory as expected: the strength of China's textile industry is weakening, the ability of industry innovation and pformation is not enough, the market competitiveness is weakening, and the future market development space of the industry is being squeezed by various factors.

But in fact, this is not exactly the case. Recently, the State Council issued the "made in China 2025", a new generation of information technology industry, high-end CNC machine tools and robotics, aerospace equipment, marine engineering equipment and high-tech shipbuilding, advanced rail pportation equipment, energy saving and new energy vehicles, power equipment, agricultural equipment, new materials, biomedicine and high-performance medical devices and other 10 advantages and strategic industries as a breakthrough point, and strive to reach the international leading position or international advanced level by 2025.

In these ten fields, many projects are closely related to the textile industry.

Advanced textile materials

High end industrial textiles: the self industrialization of absorbable suture and hemodialysis materials was realized in 2020, which partially replaced imported products, and met the functional protection requirements of heat, biochemistry, static electricity and radiation. The performance of high temperature filtration and water filtration products met the requirements of various application fields; and geomembrane materials met the construction requirements of complex geological environment.

Functional textile new material: in 2020, the flame retardance limit oxygen index > 32, no droplet, drip diffusion time less than 1s, energy consumption reduced by 20%.

In 2025, high-end products were basically self-supporting.

High performance fibers and composites

High performance carbon fiber and its composite materials: in 2020, the technology maturity of domestic high-strength carbon fiber and its composite materials reached 9 levels, and realized the scale application in the fields of automobiles and high technology ships. In 2025, combined with the research and development process of domestic large aircraft, we tried to get some airworthiness certification of CAAC/FAA/EASA and other key components of aviation carbon fiber composites.

High performance para aramid fiber and its composites: the technology maturity of domestic para aramid fiber and its composites reached 9 level in 2025.

We should establish a unified standard high performance fiber material technology system, tackle the series of high-performance fibers and make industrial technology efficiently, and carry out research on composite matrix materials, design technology, molding technology, performance characterization, application validation, recycling and other matching with domestic high-performance fibers, so as to ensure the demand for major equipment.

New generation of biomedical materials

Regenerative medicine products: 5~10 bioactive materials for bone, skin, nerve and other tissue regeneration were developed. The annual output of high-end regenerative medicine is 5 billion yuan.

Functional implant / interventional products: 5~10 biomedical materials for cardiovascular, artificial joints, dental implants, visual recovery and other clinical applications have been developed. The high-end functional plant / interventional product has an annual production scale of 3 billion yuan.

Medical raw materials: to realize the localization of important raw materials, to support large quantities of medical consumables, permeable membrane, degradable equipment and other products, and achieve an annual production scale of 3 billion yuan.

Intelligent bionics and metamaterials

Controlled metamaterials and equipment: to realize the controllable conversion of electromagnetic waves from absorbing and pmitting waves in specific frequency bands, or to convert the absorbing or pmitting waves in specific frequency bands into radiation electromagnetic waves.

From the above aspects, we can see that the textile industry is not only a sunset industry, a backward industry, but also it is achieving cross-border integration with multidisciplinary technology. This also shows that the textile industry is an industry that keeps pace with the times. The future of the textile industry is still very broad.
