Inov-8, a famous British off-road brand, and University of Manchester jointly developed new shoes, and recently launched their new product, the first pair of sports shoes made of graphene in the world.
Experts from the graphene Institute of University of Manchester recommend a rubber reinforced rubber reinforced with graphene for inov-8, especially for running and fitness.
Under the current test, the sneakers made of these soles show good wear resistance in the 1000 mile mileage, 1.5 times higher than those of ordinary running shoes.
Graphene is the thinnest material on the earth. Its strength is 200 times that of steel, and it is an ultra lightweight material.
Inov-8 will launch its G series sneakers and will be the first sports brand in the world to use Nobel prize materials.
This series of shoes will be ready for sale from June 22nd, and the official sale date is July 12th.
In December last year, the company announced for the first time the plan to reform the sports shoes industry.
After 6 months of expectation, inov-8 has finally removed the mystery and presented the shoes that changed the traditional concept to the world.
"In the past 18 months, we have worked with the national graphene Research Institute of University of Manchester to bring the best technology in the world to the sports shoes market," said Michael Price, product and marketing director of inov-8.
Aravind Vi jayaraghavan, a nanomaterial specialty at University of Manchester, said: "before this innovation, cross-country runners and fitness athletes must compromise between soft rubber and hard rubber. Soft rubber wears very well in wet or sweaty conditions, but wears quickly, choosing hard rubber is more durable, but less grip.
Through a lot of research, after hundreds of prototypes and thousands of hours of testing, the athletes do not need to compromise now. "
"By adding graphene, we have introduced the G series rubber outsole.
After scientific tests, the strength increased by 50%, the elasticity increased by 50%, and the abrasion resistance increased by 50%.
We are pleased to put graphene on shelves of 250 retail stores around the world so that everyone can touch it.
Graphene is a versatile material with unlimited potential. In the next few years, we expect to provide graphene technology in composite materials, coatings and sensors, many of which will further pform sports products. "
The G series is made up of three different shoes, each of which is carefully designed to meet the needs of athletes.
THE MUDCLAW G 260 is designed for running on muddy mountains and hurdles. TERRAULTRAG260 is designed to run long distances on hard tracks, and F-LITE G 290 is designed for fitness training.
Each includes graphite reinforced rubber outsole and Kevlar fiber - a material for bullet proof vests.
Inov-8 chief executive Ian Bailey, commenting on the patent application technology and cooperation with University of Manchester, said: "this powerful force forging in northern England will sweep the global sports shoes market.
We combine science and innovation with the speed and agility of entrepreneurs to fight against major sports brands - we will win in the end.
"We are standing at the forefront of the revolution in graphene sports shoes, and we will not stop at rubber outsole."
This is a 4 year innovation project. We will add graphene to our 50% range and give us the potential to halve the weight of running / fitness shoes without affecting performance or durability.
Graphene is produced by graphite, which was mined in the lake area of northern England more than 450 years ago.
In 2003, inov-8 was also developed in the same place.
The brand is currently trading in 68 countries around the world.

Scientists won the Nobel prize in 2010.
On the basis of their revolutionary work, a team of over 300 employees from University of Manchester has pioneered projects ranging from sports cars, medical devices to aircraft.
Now, this university can add graphite enhanced type to the world's first list.
