UNIQLO Sales In August Rose 8.8% Year-On-Year, Reversing A Three Month Decline.

The local market is booming, and the same store sales of online channels have increased by 8.8% over the past year, reversing the previous three consecutive months of decline, with the number of customers and customer unit prices rising by 3.9% and 4.7% respectively.
In the second half of August, the same store sales in the second half of the year rose 3.3%, an increase of 8.4% over the first half of the fiscal year, of which the number of customers increased from 4.2% in the first half to 1.2%. In the summer, natural disasters such as earthquakes, rainstorms, typhoons and other natural disasters in Japan hit the shops, such as the temporary closure of 80 stores in the early July due to the Western rain.
And the unit price of passengers increased steadily, rising from 4% in the first half to 4.5%.
Japanese Uniqlo UNIQLO's year-on-year sales increased by 6.3% year-on-year, compared with 1.1% in the previous fiscal year, and the number of customers and customer unit prices increased by 1.7% and 4.4% respectively.
When the three quarter results were released in July, management warned the Japanese Uniqlo UNIQLO business to fall back on fourth quarter profits due to the frustration of summer clothing needs and the need to promote sales.
In August 24th, Uniqlo's Fast Retailing Co.Ltd. (9983.T) fast retailing group opened its first local store in Stockholm, Sweden, the main rival of the world's second largest clothing retailer, Hennes&Mauritz AB (HMb.ST), marking the first step towards North Europe.
Ryui Masa, President and CEO of fast marketing, attended the press conference and shop opening ceremony in person. He described the opening of Uniqlo UNIQLO Stockholm Mormon shop as a "historic moment".
For the media to describe H&M as a competitor, Ryui Masa said that when H&M shops in Japan, it will locate the store near Uniqlo UNIQLO, which is very successful, and also leads the Uniqlo UNIQLO passenger flow. Therefore, the Uniqlo UNIQLO in the Swedish market is also in the line of sight of H&M and Zara stores. "I believe this will stimulate our sales together," he told reporters.

Uniqlo UNIQLO said in a local press release that the four floor area of 1580 square meters of new stores opened the first weekend, attracting thousands of people queuing outside the store.
The store is the seventy-sixth store in seventh European markets. Next spring, the brand will enter Denmark to flag in Copenhagen.
In an interview with local media, Ryui Masa said the group was not in a hurry to expand rapidly in Nordic Europe. He thought, "first of all, we must succeed in the first store. We must work hard to make customers turn back."

While continuing to steadily expand the European market, the greater ambition of fast selling is still in Asia.
Group senior vice president and Uniqlo UNIQLO India CEO Satoshi Hatase has revealed that the total number of stores in Southeast Asia and Oceania will be doubled to 400 by 2022. The expansion will focus on moving out of shopping malls and opening independent stores in the suburbs to achieve the goal of increasing local income from 100 billion yen in the last fiscal year to 300 billion yen (US $2 billion 710 million) in five years.
Satoshi Hatase pointed out that the first Street store in Southeast Asia set up in Bangkok in March this year has been a great success. The second shop has also opened in the country, and then its eyes will be on Philippines and Malaysia.
He said that as the brand gained considerable popularity in the region, it is expected that the number of middle and high income consumers will increase significantly, and now it has reached the layout.
Suburban market
The timing is the key to the success of the brand in Japan.
Previously, 35 Uniqlo UNIQLO stores in Thailand were all open to shopping malls.
By the end of February, the brand had about 180 stores in Southeast Asia and Oceania, roughly the same as Zara parent Inditex SA (ITX.MC) Indo Textile Group, while the total number of Hennes&Mauritz AB stores was 130.
After revealing the plan to enter India in the autumn of May, it announced last week that it would enter the same period at the same time in 2019.

Satoshi Hatase also mentioned interest in Laos and Burma, with the ultimate goal of covering all countries and regions in Southeast Asia.
Vietnam's business consists of fast marketing and Mitsubishi Corp. (8058.T) MITSUBISHI commercial joint venture, which share 75% and 25% respectively.
Zara expanded to Vietnam in September 2016. Now it has set up a store in Hu Zhiming and Hanoi. After a year, H&M has also been killed. At present, the six branches are evenly distributed in these two cities.
Up to the end of May, the overseas Uniqlo UNIQLO business contributed 45% of the revenue to the fast retailing business in the three quarter of May. The revenue grew by 23.7% to 208 billion 600 million yen, and the operating profit increased by 63.7% to 31 billion 600 million yen. In the first three quarters, the operating profit increased 65% after the year, reaching 112 billion 400 million yen, approaching the 120 billion yen of Japan's UNIQLO.
During the three quarter, the performance of Greater China, South Korea, Southeast Asia and Oceania was strong. Europe also led the same store sales growth under Russia's leadership.
