Retail sales of clothing and textiles grew by 3.3% and retail sales dragged on.
The National Bureau of Statistics recently announced that retail sales of consumer goods totaled 97790 billion yuan in the first quarter of 2019, an increase of 8.3% over the same period last year. The total retail sales of consumer goods in March totaled 31726 billion yuan, up 8.7% over the same period last year.
Among them, apparel retail sales in the first quarter were 342 billion 300 million yuan, an increase of 3.3% over the same period, and retail sales in March were 108 billion 100 million yuan, an increase of 6.6% over the same period last year.

Main data of total retail sales of consumer goods in the first quarter of 2019
According to the location of the business units, the retail sales of urban consumer goods in the first quarter were 83402 billion yuan, an increase of 8.2% over the previous year, and the retail sales of rural consumer goods amounted to 14388 billion yuan, an increase of 9.2%.
According to the physical retail format, the retail sales of department stores and professional stores in the first quarter increased by 0.9% and 3.9% compared to the same period, and the stores decreased by 0.9% compared with the same period last year.
In terms of large retail enterprises, retail sales fell by 0.5% in the 1-2 months, and the growth rate slowed 3.8% compared with the same period last year.
Among them, the retail sales of clothing commodities decreased by 8.8%, and the retail sales of cosmetics increased by 8.3%.
In March, retail sales of all kinds of goods increased year-on-year, retail sales of cosmetics increased by 16.5% and retail sales of clothing increased by 0.3%.
In contrast, apparel online retailing showed a two digit growth in the first quarter.
In the first quarter, China's online retail sales reached 22379 billion yuan, an increase of 15.3% over the same period.
Among them, the online retail sales of physical commodities increased by 17772 yuan, an increase of 21%, accounting for 18.2% of the total retail sales of social consumer goods, and 19.1% of the online retail sales of physical commodities.
With the growth of Internet users slowing down, consumers are more mature and rational, the growth rate of online shopping has dropped, and physical retailing has gradually been "resurgence", but the performance of clothing products in retail enterprises is not optimistic.
According to the publication in early April, 2018 China's clothing retail sales reached 987 billion 40 million yuan, but the growth rate slowed down.
2019 how to deal with it?
In 2018, the retail sales of large retail enterprises increased by 0.9%, and the total retail sales of clothing decreased by 4.2%.
The rise in prices is the main reason for the decline in sales, and the unit price of clothing has risen by 5.3%.
Nowadays, online shoppers are more concerned about brand awareness, clothing quality and product line than low prices, and the advantage of online sales based on physical outlets is increasingly obvious.
Physical retail differentiation layout is the only way to upgrade brand stores.
The shift from commodity consumption to service consumption, from mass consumption to personalized consumption, requires terminal stores to create more temperature shopping environment and richer shopping experience for consumers.
