For the future development direction of the Chinese foundries, UNIQLO company told the Beijing Commercial Daily reporter that no more information was revealed.
Due to the rising labor costs of factories in China and Southeast Asia, UNIQLO had set up its first African production base in Ethiopia.
At that time, analysts said that if Ethiopia could produce low-cost and high-quality products here, it would become the export base for UNIQLO to the European and American markets.
It is understood that Ethiopia has cultivated the sewing industry with cheaper labor costs.
And there is no minimum wage in the country, and labor costs are relatively low in African countries.
From the geographical point of view, the African region is closer to Europe and the United States, and exports from here to the United States do not have to pay taxes. It seems to be a better choice for clothing enterprises.
Zhang Peiying, an honorary consultant of the China luxury Confederation, said that considering the ability of workers and the stability of factory production, the situation that Chinese foundries still occupy a large proportion has not changed.
In addition, UNIQLO is still expanding rapidly in the Chinese market, and its contribution to the Chinese market has already surpassed that of the mainland.
In December, in less than half a month, UNIQLO opened 13 stores in China continuously. UNIQLO's expansion plan in China will make UNIQLO's dependence on the Chinese market stronger.
