Two Companies In The United States Jointly Launch The New Generation Of Space Suit Astro: More Flexible And Longer Tasks.

The prototype of the next generation of space suit system was launched by the same company, which was designed and supplied by NASA Apollo, which is nicknamed Astro.

ILC Dover and Collins Airlines jointly launched the new generation of spacesuit in July 25th at the conference and the 50th anniversary landing of the Capitol Hill in Washington. The new spacesuit system consists of EVA spacesuit and a life saving backpack that can regulate pressure, provide oxygen and cool. It is said that compared with the space suit EMU used by space station astronauts, the new Astro spacesuit has many improvements. Collins Aerospace Corporation said the new space suit is equipped with improved CO2 removal technology and can perform longer tasks.

The new generation of spacesuit systems can also make astronauts more easily move around in space, with better joint mobility and more advanced torso design. The improved engine and electronic equipment will make the space suit lighter and smaller.

Stoll said that although Astro was designed for spacewalk, the suit could also be used for planetary exploration. Space walking requires very little flexibility in the torso, but astronauts who land and walk on the moon and Mars are highly flexible.

However, increasing the flexibility of spacesuit can not increase the weight of the spacesuit, so "ILC Dover has developed a low trunk spacesuit. Astronauts can get the flexibility needed to explore the moon or Mars. The spacesuit will not add extra weight. The tradition has been considered that these extra weights are necessary for walking spacesuit," Stoll added.

Besides, astronauts can easily switch between the two spacesuit configurations, stor explained. She said: "weightless spacesuits and walking low body spacesuits are connected to the upper part of the body through a device that can be quickly disconnected. Astronauts can easily switch between them based on their tasks."

The new space suit will also be equipped with a pair of Astro gloves, which will improve the gloves of the ILC Dover sixth stage. According to Stoll, "this is the main task of NASA".
