Climate Innovation And Fashion Summit Held In Beijing To Focus On New Environmental Protection Measures For Textile Industry
What innovations can be made in the textile industry to cope with climate change? Guests from the environmental protection, textile and fashion industries gathered in Beijing to explore how the consumer goods industry will continue to innovate in tackling climate change.
Reporters learned from the 2019 climate innovation and fashion summit that the UN's 2030 goal of sustainable development initiative advocated that the earth's temperature rise by 2 degrees should be controlled within 1.5 degrees. The China Federation of textile industry took the lead in becoming the first consumer goods industry to carry out climate innovation. Dozens of garment and textile enterprises and more than 400 guests from environmental protection, textile industry, fashion industry and other industries attended.
Sun Ruizhe, President of the China Federation of textile industry, said in his speech that climate change is changing the business environment and pattern of market competition, which not only affects the operation of enterprises, but also affects the supply chain and market demand of enterprises. Chinese fashion enterprises should clarify the development trend of the world, countries and industries in changing circumstances, so as to grasp opportunities and plan the future in changing circumstances.
Gao Yanmin, director of the consumer goods industry department of the Ministry of industry and information technology, pointed out that industry is the main driving force for economic growth and an important area of China's energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The textile and garment industry is an important part of the industry. Therefore, the attitude and action of the textile and garment industry will have a wide impact on the industrial field and even the global market in the course of coping with climate change.
Yan Yan, chief executive officer of China Textile Association, said that from 2017 to 2019, the office has taken a series of actions, starting with the "carbon management innovation 2020 action" and upgrading it into "fashion climate innovation 2030 action", participating in the enterprise day activities of the United Nations Climate Change Conference, participating in the establishment of the "China enterprise Climate Action Alliance CBCA", signing the United Nations Framework Convention on climate change (UNFCCC) with 31 global brands and textile enterprises and 11 industry organizations, and carrying out the Chinese fashion industry Climate Leadership Project to promote the green energy and climate innovation of China's fashion industry. It is hoped that more enterprises will actively participate in the climate innovation action through industrial collaboration in the future.
Li Yuan, senior manager of social and environmental responsibility at Li Ning Co, said that as a local fashion brand in China, the company established the Department of environment and sustainable development in 2014, and became the first brand to pledge to join the fashion climate innovation 2030 in 2019. In line with the goal of sustainable development of the United Nations, the sustainable development strategy block diagram was drawn up, focusing on energy consumption and carbon emissions performance and improving continuously, passing on the green competitiveness created by China.
Fan Huaxing, director of the circular fashion project in the Alan Macarthur foundation of China, said that the foundation will bring the circular economy into the agenda of policy makers in business, politics and academia, and focus on five interrelated fields: education, business and government, insight and analysis, systematic initiative and communication. Among them, in the field of education, focusing on the framework of circular economy and focusing on e-learning, we set up a global platform integrating teaching, learning and training, and jointly carry out plans with educational institutions all over the world. In the field of business and government, we work together with global partners to promote the development of circular economy business initiatives and promote scale.
Xia Yanhong, director of sustainable supply chain and stakeholder relations in the Far East of H&M group, said that by 2030, all of them will use recycled or sustainable materials. Chen Baishun, vice president of supply chain center and technology center of Pathfinder group, also promised to donate 1% of the company's net profit to public funds every year, including developing a number of sustainable environmentally friendly products, extending product life cycle and reducing pollution, and putting the concept of environmental protection into products and communicating to consumers.
The "fashion climate innovation special fund" was announced at the meeting, and many companies jointly applied to become a start-up donation enterprise.
