ISO/TC38 Secretary General & technology director of Jiangsu Sunshine Group Co., Ltd., Xu Yong, introduced the process and key points related to the development of ISO standards by the Asian chemical fiber alliance. He gave a brief introduction to the basic situation of ISO/TC38, explained the formulation procedure of the ISO standard, the introduction of voting system and the voting rules in the process of standard setting.


ISO/TC38 chairman Mr.Hisashi.TAZAWA put forward his own views and Thoughts on how to promote the work of international standard setting by the Asian Standardization Committee. He believes that the Asian chemical fiber industry has played a leading role in international trade, and standardization has become a common concern of the Asian chemical fiber industry. The establishment of the ACFIF standardization working committee can quickly respond to the related characteristics of the newly developed functional chemical fiber products such as safety, health and environmental protection, and formulate the international standard of testing methods, and standardize the product quality and function index. At the same time, it encourages the ACFIF Standardization Working Committee members to participate more in ISO /TC38 related proposals and expert voting.

Since 2014, the Japan Chemical Fiber Association has developed 7 Japanese industrial standards and 4 ISO standards. Japan has developed a testing device and method for evaluating the mosquito repellent effect of textiles without using human or animals as attractive blood sources. The test method accelerates blood sucking behavior by intermittently discharging carbon dioxide gas. Compared with human skin, the test method has high blood supply and reproducibility. As the forerunner of functional textiles, the latest testing methods they bring have a certain degree of depth.


ISO proposal: Test Method for identification and quantification of the release of synthetic fiber waste during the washing process of textile products

Plastic particles are having more and more influence worldwide. It is necessary to confirm the fact that plastic fiber particles come from textile products. Based on this fact, we must explore the solution to the problem of plastic particles. At present, there is a lack of unified test method for synthetic fiber waste quantification. Therefore, the test method is being developed and the target of ISO standard can be used to estimate synthetic fiber waste from a wider perspective and to calculate the overall impact of the chemical fiber industry on marine plastics. Japan has developed a "test method for determining and quantifying the release of synthetic fibers in the process of washing synthetic fiber products". If we develop this test method, we can calculate and quantify the synthetic fiber waste produced in textile products under actual conditions. This can serve as a benchmark for the global textile industry to solve the problem of plastic fiber particles.

The standardization of chemical fiber is an important basic support and technological traction factor for the development of chemical fiber industry. China has basically formed a standard system of chemical fiber oriented to the market, with reasonable structure and outstanding points, including chemical fiber raw materials, synthetic fibers, synthetic fibers and related products. Chemical fiber standards have become an important driving force for the quality assurance and innovation development of the chemical fiber industry. The quality of China's chemical fiber has been recognized by global customers. Over the past 5 years, most of the representative chemical fiber technology projects with independent intellectual property rights have been formed first. With the rapid development of China's chemical fiber standards, the standard system has been initially formed, the application scope is expanding, and the level will continue to improve. This will help to enhance the international influence of the industry, and the consciousness of the whole industry standardization has also been generally promoted.


The main ideas of standardization in China's chemical fiber industry include: adhering to the principles of market demand and market forces are very important for formulating effective standards. The government should strengthen the combination of management and market promotion, and the effective cooperation between the government and non-governmental organizations. It is an important way of standardized management, and the "three in one" of making, testing and certifying is an effective system of standardized management.

With the continuous expansion of the use of chemical fibers and the increasing awareness of fire safety, the testing of the burning properties of chemical fibers has become an increasingly important topic. However, at present, there is no uniform uniform combustion method suitable for fiber morphology in the world, which will increase the difficulty of developing flame retardant fiber products and international trade. It is understood that at present, many enterprises still use the chemical fiber woven into fabric, through testing the fabric burning properties indirectly reflect the chemical fiber combustion performance. The purpose of this proposal is to provide a uniform evaluation method for the burning properties of chemical fibers, aiming at eliminating the international trade disputes arising from the differences in the evaluation of the combustion properties of chemical fibers, and at the same time, providing a method support for the quality control of production enterprises in the production process. This standard focuses on how to make test samples with fiber, and studies and establishes corresponding test conditions. The establishment of this method has important guiding significance for promoting the quality improvement and development of flame retardant fiber products at home and abroad and promoting international trade.


During the exchange and interaction session, the representatives of guests attended questions and answers on standards setting, membership entry, proposals and rights and obligations. To enhance cooperation and development among Member States, we have strengthened mutual understanding and understanding through exchanges and discussions.


At the end of the meeting, Zhang Deliang thanked the experts at home and abroad for his sharing. He hoped that in the future, through the working mechanism of the Asian chemical fiber union Standardization Working Committee, we could further strengthen standardized cooperation among members, strengthen the influence of member states in TC38, and propose and formulate more ISO standards for members of the Asian chemical fiber alliance.
