Textile And Clothing Exports Fell Again In August

According to the latest data of the General Administration of customs, from January to August of 2019, China's export of textile yarn, fabrics and products amounted to 177.465 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 2.49%; among them, the cumulative export volume of textile yarn, fabric and products was 79.4192 billion US dollars, with a year-on-year increase of 0.83%; from January to August of 2019, the cumulative export volume of clothing and accessories was 98.066 billion US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 5.04%.


In August 2019, China's textile and clothing export volume was 26.7136 billion US dollars, down 6.54% month on month and 4.95% year-on-year. Among them, the export volume of textile yarn, fabric and products was US $10.147 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 2.58%; the export of clothing and clothing accessories was US $15.698.9 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 6.39%.


Affected by the uncertainty of trade negotiations and the weak export environment, the growth rate of China's textile and garment export has declined month on month in August 2019. Since September 1, 2019, the United States has imposed a 15% tariff on Chinese textile and garment products. It is expected that the industry's export pressure will remain high in September. If an agreement is reached in the trade negotiations, the growth of China's textile and garment export is expected to improve in the future.


From the point of view of each year, the volume of light and Textile City in August is mostly in the recovery period within the year. From January to August 2019, the total transaction volume of the textile city is 14466120000 meters, which is 1% lower than that of the same period last year. However, the volume of light and Textile City in August 2019 is higher than that of the same period last year, and higher than the ten-year average. Among them, the total transaction volume increased by 28.67 million meters, long fiber fabric increased by 11.13 million meters, short fiber fabric increased by 7.85 million meters, all cotton fabric decreased by 810000 meters, polyester cotton fabric decreased by 1.39 million meters, and polyester viscose fabric increased by 890 thousand meters.


On the whole, the current textile environment is weak, the terminal inventory is large, the enthusiasm for fabric procurement is not good, the order volume is significantly shrinking compared with last year, and the continuous expansion of foreign production capacity, which leads to the increasingly obvious imbalance between supply and demand in the market. It is expected that the market will hardly improve in the future, and it will still show a trend of sluggish season in the short term.
