Us Shopping Season Wish List Apparel Replaces High Position
According to the latest consumer survey, American consumers said that the average consumption of them spent in the shopping season this year (2019) will be 4% higher than that in (2018) years, and clothing will once again win the second most popular gifts.
According to the American Retail Federation (Natio) The annual study of nal Retail Federation (NRF) showed that consumers had an average consumption budget of $1047.83 this year, up from $1007.24 during the same period last year.
Gift cards have been the most popular item on the list of 13 consecutive years. 59% of respondents asked for gift cards for Christmas gifts, followed by clothing and accessories, accounting for 52%.

Shay added that retailers are expected to increase imports of goods in close proximity to a record high before the December 15, 2019 entry of additional tariff measures on most Chinese imports of consumer goods into the US.
The annual consumption survey results released by Prosper Insights & Analytics surpassed NRF's annual shopping season expenditure projections. It is predicted that the retail sales in this year (2019) in November and December will grow 3.8% to 4.2% over the (2018) year, and the total retail sales will be between 727 billion 900 million US dollars and 730 billion 700 million US dollars. This figure is higher than that of (2018) 701 billion 200 million dollars.
Spending in shopping season is mainly divided into three categories: gifts for friends and colleagues, with an average budget of $658.55; shopping items such as confectionery and food, decorations, greeting cards and flowers are budgeted at $227.26; and the purchase of other non gifts through transaction and promotional activities during the shopping season is budgeted at $162.02.
At the same time, consumers spread their shopping plans to multiple sales channels and different types of stores. More than 56% said they would take advantage of online shopping.
Of the online shoppers, 92% use free shipping, while 48% buy online, then use pick-up in store or Ship to store, while 16% plan to use the Same day delivery, which has been amplified two times since 2015. Nine out of ten youngest online shoppers aged between 18 and 24 may say 32% of them intend to use the service delivered on that day.
Most shoppers (53%) will shop in department stores, while 51% will go to discount stores, while 34% will go to clothing stores.
Similar to previous years, 39% of shoppers said they would be ready to buy shopping season before November, while 43% of consumers would have to wait until November, and 18% would wait until December.
70% of respondents believe that sales and discounts are the reasons why they choose a particular retailer.
"Young consumers can help drive the growth of the consumer market this year," Phil Rist, vice president of Prosper Insights strategy, said. Their expenditure is not only for direct family members, but also for extending their gifts to their colleagues and friends. "
