Since the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia outbreak, the supply of anti epidemic materials represented by respirators is extremely scarce. PetroChina has speeded up the research and development of special core material melt blown materials for masks production, stepped up the layout of melt blown fabric to build new capacity, and accelerated the expansion of mask production lines, from less to less.


To produce masks from scratch, "melt spray cloth" is the key. Polypropylene is the raw material for melt blown fabric and other non-woven fabrics. In view of the current market situation such as polypropylene and melt blown materials, in order to ensure the production and protection of key materials for epidemic prevention and control, China Petroleum first adjusted the production plan, arranged 6 enterprises such as Dushanzi petrochemical and Dalian Petrochemical to switch production immediately, and produced polypropylene medical materials at full load. Up to now, nearly 120 thousand tons have been produced.


Lei Limin, President of the safety and health protection products committee of the China Textile Business Association, once said, "with the workers returning to work in large scale in the middle of February, raw material supply and logistics gradually resumed, plus the automatic production line of new masks, the production of 180 million kinds of respirators can be produced every day at the end of February, of which about 35 million of the N95 respirators are."


Zhang Yu, an analyst with Huachang securities, predicted that, according to the estimation of 100 million masks in a short period of time, the number of respirators for other industries would be around 60 million per day, after deducting the two major industries of transportation and medical care. The current 200 million employment population can only meet 30% of them. By the end of February, with the commissioning of the new production line, 200 million masks are expected to be supplied. After deducting the two major industries of transportation and medical care, the number of masks left to other industries may be around 160 million per day, which can meet 80% of employment, and industrial production and construction industry basically return to normal.


In addition, Zhang Yu also said that the automatic mask production requires only one respirator all-in-one, and 2-3 personnel operate. Semi automatic requires the mask machine and the ear belt welder two devices, which requires 3-6 people to operate. According to the recruitment information of SAIC GM's Wuling subsidiary, the recruitment demand of the company is 85, with 14 new production lines, 1 million 700 thousand Nissan and 7 people for each production line.


At present, affected by the epidemic, workers are not yet completely reworked, and the mask factories generally reflect difficulties in recruiting workers, and the cost of employing them is rising. On the one hand, the difficulty of recruiting people is expected to ease soon after the holidays. On the other hand, according to a daily production line of 100 thousand, using 7 people, even if each person raises 300 yuan a day, the cost of converting to a single mask is only 0.021 yuan, and the cost of employment is not expected to restrict the production of mask.


Zhang Yu believes that mask production is not high on capital requirements. A full set of automatic cup mask forming machines for producing N95 respirators are priced at about 30-35, and the equipment for producing medical masks is about 15-20. Each device can produce more than 100 thousand respirators per day. The concerns of enterprises may not be in funds, but after the end of the epidemic, the capacity is idle and the investment is hard to recover.


Fortunately, the policy is slanting. In February 5th, the national health and Health Committee held a news conference. Hao Fuqing, deputy director of the social development department of the national development and Reform Commission, said: "for some enterprises concerned about the problem of overcapacity in the future, we emphasize once again that the government will collect and store the surplus output after the epidemic, so long as the standards meet the standards, enterprises can organize production with full force." In February 7th, the people's Bank of China set up a 300 billion special reloan to provide low-cost funds to some local corporate banks in major national banks and key provinces such as Hubei, and supported banks to offer preferential interest loans to key enterprises engaged in the production, transportation and sale of key medical and control materials and daily necessities.


Related research institutes said that with the continuous improvement of people's living standards and the enhancement of health awareness, the demand for mask will continue to grow in the future. It is estimated that by 2025, the output value of medical masks will only exceed 15 billion yuan in China.
