Gap Has Made Some Major Board Changes.

Sonia Syngal, which has been leading the Old Navy fascia of Gap since 2016, has been appointed chief executive and will take over as the Art Peck at the end of 2019.

Meanwhile, board member Bobby Martin (Bobby Martin) was promoted to executive chairman and succeeded Bob Fisher Bob Fisher, who has been acting as interim chief executive since she left.

The two appointments have been effective since March 23rd.

The top priority of Syngal will be to enhance the performance of Gap portfolio and to join the board of retailers.

Bob Fisher (Bob Fisher) said: "in order to lead the company into the next chapter, we have sought a dynamic leader who can deeply respect our customers and make the necessary decisions to create value in the long term of our brand portfolio."

Syngal increased its sales of Old Navy from $7 billion to $8 billion in just three years, and extended its business in North America to more than 1200 stores and extended its e-commerce website to the largest online fashion retailer in the United States.

Prior to that, she served as executive vice president of global supply chain and product operations, responsible for managing the global supply chain of Gap brand portfolio.

She joined Gap for the first time in 2004. Some of her senior management positions include European jobs.

Syngal said: "it's a great honor to build on the company's rich tradition and lead our nearly 130 thousand employees to transform our business and operation to compete successfully in the future."

At the same time, Martin has extensive experience in the retail industry. He has been president and chief executive of WAL-MART international since 2002 and has served as a member of the Gap board.

Gap also announced the election of Elizabeth Smith (Elizabeth Smith) and Amy Myers (Amy Miles) as members of the board of directors, effective since April 1st.
