It is estimated that the cotton area in Hebei will continue to decline this year, or around 2 million 800 thousand mu, which will drop by about 8.2% compared with the 3 million 50 thousand mu in 2019.
According to the survey data from China Cotton Association, it is estimated that the cotton planting area will be 45 million 735 thousand and 700 Mu this year, down 5.03% from the same period last year. Hebei province is larger than the whole country. The first reason is the Sino US trade war in the second half of 2020, the new crown virus epidemic in the first quarter of 2020, the cotton market has always fluctuated in the low price range, cotton farmers have not received substantial benefits, and their enthusiasm for planting has declined. Two, in recent years, Hebei has vigorously promoted the construction of agricultural industrial parks and new agricultural cooperatives.
It is understood that as of March 20th, 2019 seed cotton sales completed about 70%, the progress significantly slower than in previous years. Reasons: first of all, last year, the price of seed cotton was low, and cotton farmers were reluctant to sell cotton. After the Spring Festival, the epidemic came raging, and cotton farmers lost their sales opportunities. Secondly, there are few buyers. In 2019, there were less than 50 types of 400 cotton ginning plants in Hebei province and 200 fewer enterprises.
Therefore, most cotton farmers expect the outbreak to end as soon as possible.
