Meituan Invests In Purdue Technology To Continue To Deliver Robots
It was reported on July 1 that pudutech, an indoor distribution robot enterprise, officially announced the completion of round B financing, with the investor of meituan, with a financing amount of more than 100 million yuan.
According to the public information, Purdue technology is a company in the field of indoor distribution robots. It has a number of Star Distribution robot products. Its mass production product is "happy delivery" robot, which has been widely used in restaurants, hotels, office buildings, hospitals, Internet cafes and KTV scenes. At present, Purdue technology is in a leading position in the catering distribution robot market.
Meituan's investment in Purdue technology is conducive to the combination of advantages of both sides and the exploration of local life service and distribution robot industry. It is reported that Purdue technology and meituan will cooperate and discuss in the field of robotics and digital catering in the future.
Relevant media have learned that meituan has begun to lay out unmanned distribution field for a long time. In October 2016, meituan established w project team to research and develop unmanned vehicle distribution in specific scenarios. In 2017, meituan was promoted to the business department. The chief scientist of meituan, Dr. Xia Huaxia, served as the general manager of the Department.
On July 25, 2018, meituan held a conference on the unmanned distribution open platform. Based on intelligent scheduling system, meituan cloud, big data and data security system, the platform opens unmanned distribution technology to upstream and downstream organizations of the supply chain, and provides support for operation, business and sales.
In January this year, at the CES 2020 held in Las Vegas, the United States, meituan and Valeo jointly launched the Valeo edeliver4u, which is 2.80 meters long, 1.20 meters wide and 1.70 meters high.
On February 18 this year, meituan announced that unmanned delivery vehicles would be launched in Shunyi, Haidian and other places in Beijing. Meituan will cooperate with meituan to buy vegetables at Shunyi station to deliver fruits and vegetables to residents in many remote closed communities. This is also the first time that meituan unmanned distribution vehicles carry out actual order distribution on open roads.
