The essence of AI is to need more data. 5g can increase the amount of data by hundreds of times, and the data structure is more complex. Although 5g and AI support each other, the current problem is that the computing power has not been improved dramatically. How to process data more efficiently is another topic.

Looking at the control level, with the determination of R16 standard and the promotion of R17, the characteristics of 5g wide range connection have been better supported. With 5g devices, we can control more AI devices. From the indoor point of view, there are more kinds of household appliances that users can control now, from televisions and electric lights to refrigerators and purifiers. Outdoors, we can control cars. Previously, only mobile phones can be controlled outside. Now cars and wearable devices have joined in. This greatly expands the control boundary of AI, but the control depth is limited.

Finally, 5g is more important in practical application. For example, AI is not widely used in mobile phones. Intelligent voice is an important function. Now mobile phone manufacturers push personal AI assistants, but they are not smart enough. Part of the reason is that there is too little data.

For example, automatic driving needs city map, but the content of vehicle is limited. If 5g is fully popularized, the intelligent system can directly access the central control data, the amount of synchronous information will be greater, and the communication between vehicles will be stronger. At present, the automatic driving vehicles can not communicate with the traffic lights on the street and other vehicles on the road, and all rely on image recognition.
