Nantong Textile Museum Renovation And Upgrading Project Launched

From tomorrow, Nantong Textile Museum will suspend the opening of some pavilions to the public, and implement the work of dismantling old exhibitions, updating exhibition areas and arranging new exhibitions. The large-scale inter annual exhibition "tradition and Modernity: old clothes and new fashions of national costumes" will be held in October.

Nantong Textile Museum is the first Textile Museum in China. It was officially opened in October 1985. It has unique cultural relics such as pottery spinning wheel and Dasheng yarn mill loom. Last year, haoqun Museum in Nantong was entrusted with the overall management of Nantong Museum. This renovation and upgrading is also a key work for the promotion of huanhaohe Museum group in 2020.

It is understood that the closure will last for about two months, and the first to fifth class main exhibition halls will be temporarily closed, and a series of work will be carried out, such as the removal of exhibitions, the renovation of exhibition areas, the upgrading of public service areas and the layout of new exhibitions. The first large-scale exhibition "traditional and modern national costumes and new fashions" introduced after the promotion of exhibition and display will last from October this year to February next year. During the period when the main hall area and modern workshop exhibition hall were closed, the farmhouse area and street shop area were normally open; the original social education activities would still be carried out.
