US Cotton Export Weekly Report: Contract Volume Surges And China Imports 100000 Tons

According to the USDA report, from September 4 to 10, 2020, the net amount of Upland Cotton in the United States will be 117800 tons in 2020 / 21, which is significantly higher than the average value of the previous week and the previous four weeks. The main buyers are China (99800 tons), Mexico (4536 tons), Pakistan (3992 tons), Vietnam (2563 tons) and Turkey (1769 tons). Japan (249 tons) and South Korea (113 tons) cancelled the contract.

In that week, the U.S. shipment of Upland Cotton in 2020 / 21 was 42600 tons, 19% less than the previous week and 38% lower than the average of the previous four weeks. Destinations include China (21700 tons), Vietnam (5942 tons), Indonesia (3470 tons), Mexico (2631 tons) and Bangladesh (1656 tons).

In 2020 / 21, the net contracted volume of Pima cotton in the United States was 6350 tons, an increase of 61% over the previous week and an increase of 75% over the average value of the previous four weeks. The main buyers were China (2858 tons), India (1724 tons), Vietnam (1315 tons), Pakistan (159 tons) and Greece (113 tons). Japan (45 tons) cancelled the contract.

In the same week, the U.S. export shipment of Pima cotton in 2020 / 21 was 3742 tons, up 54% over the previous week and 59% higher than the average value of the previous four weeks, mainly to Vietnam (1520 tons), China (907 tons), Bangladesh (386 tons), India (295 tons) and Pakistan (227 tons).
