China's economy has entered a new stage of high-quality development relying on innovation, and digital economy has become the leading role. The new generation of information technology, represented by blockchain, big data, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, 5g and other technologies, is rapidly iterating, approaching the key breakthrough point, and can help the development process of industrial Internet. From the consumer Internet to the industrial Internet, the digital transformation of industrial manufacturing driven by consumption demand needs to break the existing paradigm. The first issue of "the Internet industry path" of Tencent and Tsinghua University is the joint research group. The book includes the core content of the Research Report and contributions by some specially invited experts. It discusses the theoretical framework and practical experience of industrial Internet, and introduces the application and transformation cases of digital technology such as retail, medical health, transportation, digital government, etc.

The development of consumer Internet is relatively mature in China. This is an industrial Internet development path based on endowment and comparative advantage of China's Internet. Developed consumer Internet, relatively complete but uneven development level of manufacturing industry and underdeveloped enterprise services are the characteristics of China. The core value of industrial interconnection is to connect multiple industrial links with data, optimize each link of the industrial chain from production to consumption terminal through digital technology, optimize the matching efficiency of supply and demand, and realize inventory optimization in procurement, quality control in production, tracking and tracing in distribution Precision marketing in retail, as well as experience upgrading in service, ultimately achieve the core purpose of value enhancement, efficiency increase and cost reduction. The outbreak of Xinguan has promoted the process of social digitization, and some productive activities, such as office work, medical treatment, education, contract signing and bidding, have been transferred to the line. However, in the manufacturing industry, online production activities are still at a very early stage. The industrial Internet is actually a revolution in the supply side, which can improve the quality and efficiency of supply, help users get better products and services, and in turn, promote consumption upgrading.

According to the impact of innovation on society, the Institute of science and technology policy of Sussex University divides innovation into progressive innovation, major innovation, technological system change and technology economic paradigm transfer. The so-called "technology economy paradigm transfer" refers to the large-scale innovation of interrelated "technology groups" after the key breakthrough of general technology, and its influence can be extended to all aspects of the economy, and finally change the social system structure to complete the new industrial revolution. In the real economy, these innovations can exist at the same time, forming a composite innovation system.

It should be noted that China is not the largest consumer market in the world at present, but why does it not form a digital industry driven by consumption? We should realize that in this transformation path, the consumer groups need to have enough pulling force to connect the value chain links among enterprises into the network. The internal R & D design, logistics supply, user service and even internal organization and management activities of each enterprise need to be digitized in order to form effective collaboration with other enterprises on the network. In this process, we need to vigorously develop multi platform economic ecology. The platform may be the key node of the industrial Internet and become the regional distribution, coordination and command center. We need to ensure that the "traction" from the consumer side to each platform can not be weakened, the chain of cooperation can not be relaxed, and it should be empowered.

The Internet industry has a long way to go. In the past 20 years, China's consumer Internet services have basically covered the whole scene of user demand, and the extensive connection between people and people and services has been basically realized. But at the same time, a large number of "things" and "services" are not fully digitized, "people and things", "people and services" connection is not enough, the lack of connection between the upstream and downstream of the industry, resulting in the data and feedback of the consumer side can not form an effective response at the supply side. In addition, the application scope and level of information technology are relatively low. On the one hand, these problems require the state to strengthen the "new infrastructure" to provide a wide range of infrastructure for the digital economy. On the other hand, leading scientific and technological enterprises such as Tencent and Huawei also play a mainstay role. For example, the domestic large aircraft mentioned in the book uses AI technology for ultrasonic testing, and the composite material testing of the tail wing has been done by experienced teachers for tens of hours and hundreds of thousands The yuan cost is reduced to only a few minutes for an ordinary inspector, and the overall defect detection rate is increased to 99%. Industrial Internet also needs a large number of applications of Internet of things technology to achieve information collection and traceability from production to consumption. Taking data interconnection as an example, there are still some obstacles, which involve various rights of data and the concerns of enterprises for information security. It is shown that the nodes on the Internet of things are difficult to connect and share data, and there are a large number of isolated data islands, and many mechanism design problems need to be solved. Enterprises must realize digital management and build all-round digital enterprises. At present, only a few enterprises in China effectively use ERP system for production management. These companies with high digital ability have better adaptability in the face of rapidly generated demand and changing environment, and can timely and quickly adjust the production rhythm and realize agile production.
