Solving The Problem Of Clothing Inventory: Weather Forecast? Itochu And Meteorological Association Reach Deep Cooperation
Itochu Corporation, a Japanese trade giant and one of the five major integrated trading companies, announced recently that it had reached a cooperation with Japan Meteorological Association to start trial operation of market demand forecasting service from the spring and summer series of 2021.
It is reported that the past sales data of several clothing enterprises under Itochu will be integrated with the meteorological data of Japan Meteorological Association, so as to forecast the medium and long-term market demand of various commodity categories, and adjust production and sales plans in turn.
This trial operation will first be carried out in clothing enterprises related to buyer's shops such as United Arrows and nano ·universe, and is expected to be extended to other companies under the group in 2022.
In recent years, Itochu has encountered severe environmental challenges in the major fashion industry. In the past, the fashion industry used to make production plans based on the sales data of the previous year. Now they have to convert to "production plans based on objective data" to further meet the challenges.
This is another step taken by Itochu in optimizing supply chain management. Earlier, the group launched a new online customized clothing brand, inishirt, in Hong Kong, China, to further promote the digital transformation of the supply chain.
