Chairman Sun Ruizhe Pointed Out The Three Most Urgent Tasks At Present
On March 24, the video conference of the board of directors of the International Federation of textile manufacturers (hereinafter referred to as "IFN") was held at 18:00 Beijing time. Members of the board of directors and successive presidents of the International Textile Federation attended the meeting. This meeting is the first board meeting of IFLA in 2021. The meeting was presided over by sun Ruizhe, chairman of the International Textile Federation and President of the China Textile Industry Federation. It mainly discussed the current concerns of the industry and the current key work of the International Textile Federation.
This meeting is the first board meeting of IFLA in 2021. Xu Xudong (Taiwan, China), Bashar (Pakistan), JAS Bedi (Kenya) and Cheng Qihe (South Korea) attended the meeting.
In his opening speech, sun Ruizhe first mentioned that in 2021, the international anti epidemic is expected to usher in a turning point, the global economy is expected to warm up, and climate change is getting more and more attention and response from the world. Countries around the world are speeding up the distribution of new coronal vaccines. According to relevant data, as of mid March, the global vaccination dose was nearly 400 million doses. Driven by the global vaccine launch, gradual re opening and government stimulus, the OECD predicts that global GDP will grow by 5.6% this year, and will continue to recover by 4.0% in 2022. By the middle of this year, global gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to return to pre epidemic levels; China is committed to decarbonization; and the new US administration has made climate a priority. In the recovery plans of Pakistan, France, New Zealand and other countries, a considerable proportion of financial support is put on accelerating the greening of their economies and creating green jobs. The global textile industry is facing new opportunities.
Speaking of the work of the International Textile Federation, sun Ruizhe pointed out that fighting the new epidemic situation, coping with climate change and promoting world economic recovery are the three most urgent tasks of all countries and regions at present. Under the current situation, the key work of the international textile Union should be focused on the following areas:
First, on the basis of the existing work practice and achievements in 2020, we should continue to help industry enterprises cope with the impact of the epidemic, strengthen the situation study and judgment, and release industry information with high quality;
Second, it is necessary to maintain the multilateral trade system, pay attention to the trade barriers set or preset by the world's major economies for industrial products, and give voice to the industry in a timely manner, so as to maintain the stability of global supply chain and industrial security;
Third, we should guide the industry to actively respond to global climate change and reduce carbon emissions. In industry activities such as webinars and annual meetings, we should introduce more climate change issues and call on industry enterprises to pay attention to the climate action charter for fashion industry (ficca).
Sun Ruizhe focused on the current industry inside and outside the general concern of Xinjiang cotton issues. He stressed that the so-called Xinjiang cotton and its products were produced by "forced labor" and had no factual basis at all. China will not accept the accusation of "presumption of guilt" which is biased and presupposed by anyone. The door of Xinjiang is open to the world. Welcome to Xinjiang and see it with your own eyes. We sincerely hope that the members of the board of directors will not draw lines with ideology, adhere to objective rationality and refuse false information and lies on the cotton issue in Xinjiang.
Sun Ruizhe also mentioned that Yida group, as Asia's largest cotton textile and garment export enterprise, is a world leader in research and development, technology, innovation and talent, and is committed to sustainability from seed to ready-made clothing. However, such a well-known textile and garment enterprise headquartered in Hong Kong was listed in the "entity list" by the US Department of Commerce in July 2020 due to its involvement in the so-called "forced labor". In fact, over the years, many international organizations and customers who have visited Yida Changji factory have given positive evaluation reports. We can't say that the international organizations and clients that issue the reports are all the producers of lies, nor can we say that the audit firm that confirmed that Yida did not use compulsory labor lied.
Sun Ruizhe also introduced the current situation of China's textile industry, saying that China's textile industry will take the initiative to integrate into the domestic and international "dual cycle", deeply tap the potential of domestic demand, adhere to open cooperation, and accelerate the realization of high-quality development led by scientific and technological innovation, green transformation and digital economy.
Members of the meeting believed that sun Ruizhe's speech was comprehensive and systematic and focused on the stability and security of the industrial chain, which was in line with the common interests of the global textile industry.
At the meeting, Xu Yingxin, a member of the board of directors of the International Textile Federation, also expressed opinions on relevant issues.
The meeting also discussed the International Textile Federation awards, cooperation with the organization for economic cooperation and development (OECD), the Asian Regional Sustainable Textile Network (star network) and the timing of Davos annual meeting.
Xu Yingxin and Yang Zhaohua, vice presidents of China Textile Federation, Yuan Hongping, deputy secretary general and director of Foreign Affairs Office of China Textile Federation, Yan Yan, director of social responsibility office, Liang Xiaohui, chief researcher, and Liu Yaozhong, deputy director of international trade office, attended the meeting.
The meeting decided that the next video conference of the board of directors would be held in May or June 2021.
