Lin Hai, Secretary of the Party branch of the Cotton Research Institute of the Xinjiang Academy of agricultural reclamation Sciences, said that in the past, the agricultural scientific research units of the XPCC mainly sent technology to the countryside to serve the cotton farmers of the Corps farms and companies by selecting special scientific and technological commissioners to serve the cotton farmers of the corps and solve various problems encountered in the process of cotton planting. After the establishment of the center, it will integrate the power of authoritative experts in the field of cotton both inside and outside Xinjiang, assist the staff to increase production and income from the aspects of cotton breeding and efficient planting management, guide cotton processing enterprises to strengthen technical transformation and improve the proportion of high-quality cotton, so as to provide theoretical basis for the high-quality development of Xinjiang cotton varieties, planting, harvesting, processing, textile and other aspects of the whole industrial chain.

Xinjiang is the largest commodity cotton base in China. By the end of 2020, the total cotton output in Xinjiang will be 5.161 million tons, accounting for 87.3% of the national cotton output. Xinjiang production and Construction Corps accounts for 27% of the national area and produces 36.9% of the country's cotton, which plays an irreplaceable role in the development of Xinjiang and even the national cotton industry.

Since 2014, the cotton quality of each division and regiment of XPCC has been greatly improved, and the main quality indicators are generally higher than the national average level, which has played a good demonstration role in expanding the whole process of mechanized cotton harvesting and optimizing the production and processing industrial chain.

At the forum, Professor Zhang Xianlong from Huazhong Agricultural University believed that at present, our region should carefully sort out the problems affecting cotton quality in cotton breeding, planting, harvesting, processing, storage and transportation. Through the southern Xinjiang cotton innovation center of Xinjiang production and Construction Corps, we should gather cotton scientific research workers from all over the country to analyze the problems encountered in the development of Xinjiang cotton industry, Analyze and solve one by one.

Zhou Ping, vice president of Xinjiang Academy of agricultural reclamation Sciences, said that in the future, the South Xinjiang cotton innovation center of Xinjiang production and Construction Corps will build a good platform for scientific and technological innovation and display of technological achievements for the cotton industry in the whole region.
