Ministry Of Commerce: Vietnam'S Textile, Leather And Footwear Exports Are Difficult To Recover Rapidly

Vietnam's exports of textiles, leather and footwear in the first eight months of this year continued to grow significantly year-on-year, according to Vietnam's customs online on September 22. According to the data of Vietnam Textile Association, in the first eight months of this year, textile exports reached 25.9 billion US dollars, up 15.8% year on year. However, due to the impact of the new outbreak in August, the export volume decreased significantly.

Specifically, textile exports in August fell 18.7% month on month and 5.8% year-on-year.

In terms of footwear, according to the data of Vietnam's Ministry of industry and trade, the export volume of footwear reached 12.6 billion US dollars in the first eight months of this year, up 16.2% year on year. However, the export volume of all kinds of footwear decreased by 38.5% year on year in August.

The above data clearly show the impact of the recent outbreak on Vietnam's textile, leather and footwear exports. More serious difficulties still lie ahead, especially in human resources.

From now to the end of the year, when the economy gradually opens up and production activities gradually resume after the epidemic, the cancellation of export orders and the lack of human resources are the most "headache" problems for textile, clothing and footwear export enterprises. Production and exports in these sectors are not expected to recover quickly.
